Both the actress and the character remind of Zhao Lu Si (acting and character) in LLTG (a fav of mine and made me like this drama even more). Did anyone else feel this way?
Great acting, decent story line, a really mature and smart FL paired with a slightly immature (but has a lot growth) ML. This was better than I expected. The character development was so good for both of the main leads. The cast as a whole had great energy and chemistry.
The ML and FL have really good chemistry. It is a slow burn but worth the wait as others have said. The ML has great comedic timing for such a cold character which combines well with the FL. The FL is a pro at manipulating the situations to her favour. This may sound like it's a bad thing but this is a way of showing how smart her character is. And even better, like other dramas, she isn't without flaws, and her decisions do cause real damage. But she admits her faults and grows.
The only real complaint I have is the last 3 episodes. They didn't match the vibe of the rest of the story and imo were totally pointless but useless enough it made me like the drama less.
I still recommend this if you are searching for your next drama fix - this deserves the high ratings its gotten on mdl.
I agree with you, from ep 12 to ep 22 the romance part was really too much, it would have been better if they…
Yeah esp all those episodes they wasted in the mountain looking for that herb that was under the table anyway. That entire arc was a waste of episodes. Really would have preferred the time spent on Prince Annan's life, esp since Ryan did such an excellent job at the portrayal of that character.
I said this in my other comment below but the ML's prince arc outfit reminded me so much of love between fairy and devil, I went back to watch clips from LBFAD
Liked this more than LOTFG (hard not to make comparisions when the concept had similarity and same actor as ML). The characters were better developed and the FL was more than just a concept and seemed to have been overall better thought out...
However, the ML CARRIED this show on his back. He was expressive, pulled off two different roles so well and was my sole reason to continue watching. Unfortunately the FL was the weakest link. I can't remember her from other shows, but she definitely was quite stiff in a lot of parts. Which was sad since the character was actually written well enough but the actress couldn't quite pull it off.
In terms of plot the first half draaagggs, it only gets interesting once the ML is back to being a prince (did anyone else get LBFAD vibes in his outfit?) The last third of the show was the best part and the only reason it got a higher rating than I would have otherwise given it.
Overall decent watch, I enjoyed it but I might not remember it.
If there was one sentence to describe this drama: tell don't show.
Good: The acting was decent (esp like the ML's acting), nice fight scenes in certain parts, beautiful instrumental ost. The ML was written like a green forest, so supportive and amazing.
Bad: The amount of exposition they use. Even when showing the scene unraveling the characters are literally describing what's happening, as if we aren't watching it unfold. We are told that the FL is a great general with amazing skill, but not really shown that (apart from some nicely choreographed action scenes). We are told that she has won over the people in the barracks but it's shown in the most colour by numbers way. The FL herself doesn't seem like a bad actress but there were parts she came off as so unnatural and stiff. Others she was good. I half blame the script.
And the women empowerment scenes were so OTT they came off almost as a parody rather than sincere.
This could have been great but they needed a stronger script, a more diverse main FL and a lot more time developing bonds between characters. It's the first time I have played a drama at 2x speed for the pointless last 3 episodes.
Like others have said, really cute and adorable first half followed by a really weak second half. I think the…
Also despite all the hype of the evil spirit and how bad things were going to get if it got its full powers.....nothing happened? I was constantly underwhelmed with the direction the "big evil spirit" went in. I was hoping for something more evil like what was in Goblin.
Like others have said, really cute and adorable first half followed by a really weak second half. I think the writers really lost direction for where this was supposed to be going and the completely anticlimactic ending showed that. When I watched the first episode I wasn't sure this was going to be good however by the second episode I was already hooked, the production team found their rhythm. Unfortunately the writing was a let down after episode 6ish. Despite that it is still a really enjoyable watch full of really sweet and funny moments (esp the comic timing of the 2nd ML). Was impressed with the acting of the main leads and they had good chemistry together. If you are wondering whether to watch, I would still recommend but with lowered expectations.
This was a nice watch. It managed to differentiate itself from the original Korean version. There was a subtle-ness to it compared to the mankjang of the Korean one (both had different directions which were good in their own way). However I really wish they had kept in the strength of the FL and ending of the Korean one. I didn't like that towards the end the FL went back to being weak (and letting the ML handle everything for her) and the way they ended things for the antagonist. I definitely prefer the Korean ending because of that.
Cute but not remarkable. I feel the FL and ML could not match in chemistry, leading to a rather dry show. Comedy wise, there could have been so much more the writers could have stretched the script. Overall - ok watch but neither your heart nor your brainwaves will flutter.
Someone mentioned they wore black during the MBC awards for the victims in the jeju crash.... this makes the latest…
"Knetizens would have cried if someone would have make weird/unclear/inappropriate/misunderstandable reference to the jeju crash but for victims of other nations in an ongoing genocide apparently it is ok" - Apparently its always ok if brown and muslim people are killed and then somehow blamed for their own murders. This is what propaganda does and I don't care how many people whine "but its just a drama1! lulz just dont watch it thennn~~". It's not just a drama. For many people it's their reality. People on MDL really need to mature up and go look at exactly what is happening in Palestine and how many journalists have been targeted and killed for speaking the truth for 75 years. Every single person here pretending this isn't a big deal lives a very very sheltered and privileged life.
I don't get the "progaganda" comments, I didn't thought of any of that while watching. Just because there is a…
That is how propaganda is done though? You make the names sound similar enough, show people of a certain race/religion enough doing bad things and people start unconsciously building connections in their mind. It may not strike you as a connection but it clearly has to many others, which means it is a form of propaganda. Esp one that is twisting to show the real life victims as the perpetrators?
100% agree on the cartoonish villains. It completely destroyed and belief I had in the show. Not even lovable…
I'm not arguing that the plot is bad, it's the script that is weak. That means the adaptation of the novel from the drama script writers wasn't great. Also great that it won awards but my opinion is mine so it still stands? Not sure what you're trying to argue here....?
Pro: Great chemistry, witty dialogues and back and forth between the leads, amazing visual and choreographies…
100% agree on the cartoonish villains. It completely destroyed and belief I had in the show. Not even lovable bad, just bad... When the fake Cui Lin just walks out after revealing he is evil now,,, I was done with this drama. Plus the ML's actual dad and brothers...the writer just needs to learn to write stronger scripts and the secondary characters need to not over act as much (but I'm not sure it's the all the actors faults given the script).
