I gave this a try and it really wasn't that bad. Yeah I wouldn't say it's the best drama I have watched but it was completely bingeable, and the leads had great chemistry together, although I do agree that the side characters were deplorable. It was, over all ,what you would expect from a cliched romantic drama, and sometimes that's all you want.
I think Kame was really great in this, esp in the second half of the drama, his emotions came out even stronger. The FL was ok but I couldn't get over her affair so I couldn't 100% root for her, even though there were times I was like omg stand up for yourself woman.
A great watch and the main leads have such amazing chemistry together. Even though I am not a fan of desserts with red beans every single piece presented in the show was so delicate and beautiful, I just wanted to try some!
Good story, great acting, amazing chemistry and beautiful kimonos and desserts, makes this probably one of the best j-dramas I have watched in a long time.
This was such an adorable show with such a good message. Everyone acted really well and it didn't have any time…
The leads were so cute together (although they did fall too quickly for each other for my liking). And the ending could have been a little better, even in the special I would have preferred more time for the leads to be together rather than just a recap of the 3 years.
This was such an adorable show with such a good message. Everyone acted really well and it didn't have any time wasting filler scenes. It was a joy to watch. The main leads had great chemistry, the story was good and the FL was adorable but strong. I swear only jdramas can pull off cute and adorable but still strong and passionate female leads. Definitely recommend.
Ep 2 and ....did she just go back to work and school after extracting two teeth??? That's so far from reality. I had 2 wisdom teeth extracted a few months ago and I was down for 2 days!!
Still cute vibes all around, but man these writers need to better research for their plots.
Great article! In a place (cdramaland) where FLs are normally portrayed as bland/helpless/annoying in a lot of dramas this list is a reminder of the great FLs that can serve as role models for young girls whilst pursing love, their own career independent of the man, and sisterhood with their friends.
I think the character that really balanced all of it was Chen Xiaoqian, comedy, intelligence, romance and likeability. She was so well written and acted for a character that could have easily been typecast as annoying FL who can destroy the drama.
I will be watching some of the others mentioned in the article and below in the comment!
Unpopular opinion: I couldn't make it past the first 2 eps. The FLs acting was....non existent. I don't know much about the cast so I don't know if she is a popular idol/actor in China but she really needs a lot of training and acting classes. I have never seen someone 'act' with such a stiff face that show zero emotions. She was the sole reason I couldn't continue with the drama. I had the same issue with Love O2O.
But I see the drama bought a lot of joy to a lot of viewers so I assume everyone else was fine with it.
Wow what a ride! Don't hesitate- just click play and watch it till the end.
This drama is a slow burn, so go in knowing the first half is a little slower, takes time to build up and you may even question if the leads will have any chemistry. But that all is part of the charm of this drama. The leads have an inexplicable chemistry once together and it just feels like they have always belonged/been together. It's not just sizzling but also a lasting kind of love.
Also I believe this is the first drama that I have watched with such a unique set up as space exploration and showing the difficulties of it. Most dramas these days are about idol life/gaming (which this drama has in the first half and I honestly didn't care for those scenes), but this one really makes you realise everyone involved in space exploration is really achieving something larger than any of us, larger than life. I really felt Yu Tu's struggle and anxiety with his work and how important it was. It is beyond just one country investing in technology, its humanity as whole being able to understand life outside of our planet (although admittedly in the drama it was a little a bit much of China!! RARA!! and I'm never a big fan of patriotism).
In terms of cast, everyone was great, no evil characters. Yang Yang's acting was admittedly stiff in the beginning and he couldn't quite portray the complex emotions his character is going through, but he really finds his groove at some point and then its great. Also WOW he is good looking in this drama. I dropped Love O2O cause I found it terrible but he is so good in this! I felt Dilraba's character could have been a little more complex, but overall she was great too. My biggest complaint was, I wish they had more deep and meaningful conversations during their gaming sessions, (the script was a little superficial to start with) it felt like a missed opportunity from the writer.
The OST was great, the production and effects were great too. The last few episodes were fun and the actors were so natural at that point you don't even feel like you are watching people act on screen anymore. It's just a wonderful watch and completely deserving of the praise it is getting!
This drama is an interesting watch but should probably not be binged as fast as I did because I did FF through…
I didn't like however that Dr Keanu was able to forgive JH. He destroyed his career, but more importantly his family. I get why they wrote it that way, so that the doctor would heal himself through treating JH, but it was pretty unrealistic. I feel like too much was tied up with a happy little red bow and they could have done something a little deeper than that.

Also the OST was great, I love the epic BGM.
