Trying not to judge this by today's drama standards since it was made in 2016, but mannnn the FL seriously had some "Candy" vibes. I was convinced the woman had some kind of inner-ear issues since she was ALWAYS (and I mean ALWAYS) tripping and falling all over the place. Like go see a doctor ma'am you have no balance.
Other than that this is quite enjoyable and bingeable. The weakest link is the FL (whose acting was really not that great but also her character was so terribly written) and the last 3 or 4 eps. This could have been 16 episodes and been much better. Marcus and the rest of the cast did a great job thought and he really carried the chemistry in the relationship.
Does anyone have any other revenge dramas like this apart from the ones mentioned in the reccs?
short sweet and cute. Wouldn't mind seeing this fleshed out more since the FL wasn't a push over and was actually always standing up for herself against those who wanted to harm her and her mom. ML was adorable and not the normally OTT bossy type.
Pretty good sci-fi drama with some great acting and even more amazing visual effects. I have to say, K-dramas are really taking on different genres like never before. I don't think this was too long or dragged out. I didn't really notice time passing slowly, except the 1st episode which was a bit slow.
The drama does have a more subtle and silent tone to it, so some may find that a little draggy but I thought that directing actually fit amazingly well given the tone of the plot. I do think it was a little predictable with what would happen to the crew, some of the characters were pretty one-dimensional. But that's a given with only 8 50 mins episodes .
Overall - I do recommend, its totally bingeable and can be your in-between drama.
side note : has anyone seen the actor Baek Hyun Jin (the evil doctor in 601) act in a positive role? Lately have been seeing him play so many negative roles I'm curious what his "good guy" acting is like.
I enjoyed this drama. It was addictive from the get go, though the writing could have been a little tighter or…
Also - I am impressed they made Hyun's character get infected and actually bite someone. Usually dramas like this will keep away from getting the ML get blood like that on their hands. I did not see that bite coming at all!
I enjoyed this drama. It was addictive from the get go, though the writing could have been a little tighter or with stronger dialogue. Despite some plot holes and the medicore-ish dialogue this is still worth watching because of 1) the story and 2) the amazing cast. Although the leads were pretty amazing and had great chemistry together, I have to say I felt most for Cl. Han Tae Seok. His character had the most depth (for me) and although he did some horrific things, I could see the rationale behind it all. He acted really well, portraying the cold calculated persona of someone who had to make difficult choices and the tenderness of someone who was struggling with his own grief.
I really also loved the secondary cast members, the residents though they frustrated me to no end. They made such idiotic decisions, but ones that I could see real life people making. You would THINK that in a zombie outbreak people wouldn't risk lives for money, but it's obvious from our current pandemic that lives matter less than money. The main takeaway from this drama isn't that viruses are horrible for all, but rather human greed is what worsens an already bad situation (emptying of supermarkets anyone?).
Do I think this is the best drama of 2021? No, but the entire cast and storyline really is what makes this drama push it up to higher ratings and I think it deserves the hype it is getting.
Much better than the ratings and comments make it out to be, though I had to pause in between ep 3 and 4 because I got so confused by the sudden change in characters. Ep 4 is extremely slow and probably the weakest part of the series. I think this can get much higher ratings if there is a season 2 to wrap things up better. The last episode was great and esp that ending! I am soooo curious to know what happens next. If thriller can make you think and leave you wanting more at the end then imo it is worth the watch.
Acting was superb by all the cast involved and the writing wasn't too bad. It really points out to how easily we can get pulled into a cult, throughout the series I kept thinking I would probably believe in New Truth if I saw everything the way they presented it to be. It's a really powerful illustration to balance faith with your own thinking mind. As a somewhat religious person I really agree with that sentiment. If we choose to have faith in a religion we should balance it with critical thinking too.
This was a little disappointing, FL was stiff throughout the series with almost zero emotion throughout. It's hard to believe she was in Ahjussi as a child actress. All the other actors were better, esp the best friend Il-Nam. Story was stilted, and I know from love playlists etc that 20 mins is more than enough time to develop a better script and plot.
Not sure why this is getting a season 2 but I hope they get better writers and give the FL a little more to work with. Her role could have been replaced by that axe and it would have not made a difference.
Wow this was such an emotional drama and so amazingly well acted. Both the MLs were amazing in their roles and I ended up being really sad this was only 10 episodes though that may be part of its charm since nothing felt too repetitive and too much filler. I loved Sang-gu's arc and the way the actor for Geu-ru portrayed his character. Esp in the last episode I cried so much. It's definitely a tear jerker the kind that sometimes has you cursing humanity and other times seeing the hope in people.
Pretty solid drama with great acting, as expected from Ji Sung but surprised by the actors of sun ah and ga on.…
I really enjoyed Sun Ah's character but when she killed that guy by pressing the button she lost any sympathy I had. I'm glad she realised she had become a monster that was basically supporting real evil in the world in the end and kills herself.
As for people saying the ending was a little disheartening because nothing changed - that's actually how real life work would work. That was the point of the show, that Yo Han's "shortcut to justice" doesn't make lasting change. It only gets rid of trash to be replaced by new trash. The show, I believe was trying to show- you have to be more like Ga On and Oh Jin Joo to make changes in your corner of the world for it to slowly become better.
Pretty solid drama with great acting, as expected from Ji Sung but surprised by the actors of sun ah and ga on. They were really surprisingly good. The story itself can sometimes veer a little into a little OTT but mostly is pretty good. Also the "dystopian" aspect of the drama was really not, it really is basically the reality we live in currently. That felt like a way to shield the show from criticism from too patriotic individuals.
What was interesting as a viewer is wondering what you would vote for in a show like that. Could you vote to give someone a brutal death penalty? Would you be ok with the idea of flogging publicly? It really speaks a lot about Mob mentality and what values we prescribe to as individuals vs mobs.
Definitely a drama I recommend watching for the acting and amazing reversals by the main characters.
Cute healing kind of drama but felt too much of a filler halfway through before getting its footing back towards the end. I think this drama would have been great with 12/13 episodes instead of 16. This isn't really a binge drama, it is more to be watched slowly with breaks.
I am a huge Shin Min Ah fan, but I found her acting to be a little stiff in some of the more emotional scenes. It made it difficult to get completely engrossed in the character. Seon Ho however made up for those scenes with his big watery eyes. They did have good chemistry with each other and the dimples were an overload of cuteness.
The feel this drama gives is one of being embraced by a community of loving neighbors. You really miss the small town feels watching a drama like this. All the secondary characters were great, I love the kids and the actress who played Bora's mom was also a standout when the story focused on her.
Straightforward but gritty story that is brought to life with an amazing cast, OST and directing. I binged it, with 8 episodes there was no time for boring fillers and pointless characters. This is my first time watching So Hee and she can ACT. Like really pull the viewers into her world and not let go act. Her and Park Hee Soon are so amazing in this together and their chemistry is great as mentor-mentee.
Also special mention to actor Jang Yeol, I haven't been so disgusted in a character like I was with his for a while. He played a disturbed smiling psycho so well.
The martial arts director of this should be given an award. The fight scenes were so beautifully choreographed and shot, they were a joy to watch. You can tell how much thought went into them and how hard the actors/stunt doubles worked in this drama. Rarely on small screen can you see such a great action drama.
Eh totally underwhelming not worth your time kinda drama. For 6 episodes nothing really happens and I couldn't understand why the ML likes the FL apart from the fact that she has no time for him?? She keeps apologizing, he keep accepting her apologies is never angry or upset and that's basically all that happens in the 6 episodes. Why did they even waste money to make this?
So I always thought Kawaii = cute but this drama convinced med Kawaii= stupid because that has to be what they mean given how Risa acts. It's a leave your brains at the door kinda drama to watch inbetween dramas. Super super cringey, no real story and just tons of skinship.
I would have at least liked it more if the FL didn't seem like she was trying to escape in every single kiss/bed scene. She really looked like she did not want to be there.

Highly highly recommend this one.
