Maybe because if they were acting "normal" that would make a bad comedy.
Glad it worked for you!

I don’t think chaebols have to act over-the-top or ridiculous for a comedy to work. To me, this kind of character is actually what makes a bad comedy, because I’ve seen it too many times. I’m sure there are plenty of ways to write humor without relying on the same personality every time. It just takes a bit more creativity and less lazy writing.

Why are chaebol characters always portrayed as arrogant and immature? It’s such a tired and predictable trope at this point. The first episode didn’t do much to draw me in. The FL didn’t stand out either, there was nothing particularly likeable or intriguing about her, and none of the characters made a positive impression. Still, I’ll keep watching for now. Sometimes dramas just have a slow start, so I’m hoping this one picks up soon.

Exactly what I was about to say 😭 His acting at the press conference was so horrible that I couldn’t help but laugh. I’m sure whoever told him to cry was watching in regret and sighing at their own advice.

I feel the same way. What made WLGYT so special for me was its raw realism—how closely it mirrored real life without relying on fantasy elements. That’s why the reincarnation twist didn’t sit well with me. As someone who doesn’t believe in reincarnation and finds it an overused trope in kdramas, I couldn’t really connect with that choice. It felt unnecessary in a story that thrived on authenticity.

The scene where their son passed away was one of the most emotional moments I’ve ever experienced. It struck me in a way few scenes ever have, leaving me unable to stop crying as I replayed it over and over again. I rarely cry while watching shows, but this moment broke something inside me. The rawness of their performances felt more authentic than life itself. The way she clung to her son’s lifeless body, desperately trying to warm him despite the unshakable cold, was a heartbreaking image of a mother in complete disbelief, unable to accept what had just happened. Her desperation was palpable. And then, the way he collapsed, his sorrow pouring out in heart-wrenching cries, filled the air with such deep pain that it was almost suffocating. That scene alone deserves every award possible. The acting was just... extraordinary, and the cinematography elevated it to another level of brilliance. A true masterpiece in the art of storytelling.

Title The Best Thing Spoiler
To be fair the FL is gorgeous so not really surprising he was infatuated at first sight but I think the drama…
Yeah, their chemistry lost its spark after a certain point, especially once they officially became a couple. I couldn't feel anything special about their relationship anymore, it just felt like watching a regular couple going on mundane dates and doing casual things, with nothing really happening. It dragged on for so many episodes that I eventually found myself wondering, ‘Why am I even watching this?’

As for her reaction, it makes sense given her personality. From the very start, she wasn’t the type to get angry at her boyfriend, no matter the situation. Even with her ex, she never really stood up for herself or pushed back—she simply accepted everything he said and always believed she was the one at fault. While her character did grow over time, and she learned to value herself more, she still remained soft-spoken and non-confrontational. She’s not the kind of person to cause drama, which is consistent with how she handled the situation.

My issue is that his character felt a little too easy to get, and he made way more effort in pursuing the relationship, as I mentioned in my reply to Nessun.

As for the mom’s breast cancer storyline, honestly, it felt like something they threw in out of the blue just to push the plot forward when they were running out of ideas. I completely agree with you though, it was incredibly frustrating that he kept such a serious matter from her. As her boyfriend and someone who had experienced a similar situation, he should've prioritized honesty over respecting her mother’s wishes. If I were in her shoes, I would've felt so hurt and betrayed, yet she handled it with so much understanding. She truly was a green flag there.

Overall, I hated the lack of communication within her family. She didn’t tell her parents about the breakup or the emotional struggles she was facing, and they kept something as serious as her mother’s illness from her. It felt like unnecessary secrecy just for the sake of drama.

I think 'fall in love' is a big word. I understand that he was attracted to her at first sight, but my issue is that his character felt a little too easy to get. He made significantly more effort in pursuing the relationship, always showing up for her even when she pushed him away. After she initiated a kiss, then suddenly rejected him the next day, he still remained unwavering in his devotion. While I appreciate a persistent ML, I would've preferred if his feelings deepened gradually through more meaningful interactions.

Title The Best Thing Spoiler
The Best Thing had far more episodes than necessary for its story. While I initially enjoyed its simplicity (there was something refreshing about how light, natural, and ordinary it felt), the drama eventually lost its charm. At some point, the main storyline felt complete, and what followed seemed like an unnecessary extension. The couple, who had a spark early on, gradually lost their chemistry, and the romantic tension faded. By the later episodes, I was just pushing through to finish it rather than genuinely enjoying it.

One of my biggest disappointments was how quickly the ML fell for the FL. It would have been far more compelling if his feelings had developed gradually through multiple encounters rather than an instant fascination from their first meeting. It made his character feel less dynamic, and honestly, he was a little too much of a green flag for my taste—so safe and predictable that he ended up feeling dull. The characters overall lacked depth, and aside from the FL to some extent, there wasn’t much real character growth.

Despite the large number of episodes, the final one still felt rushed. The wedding, in particular, seemed like an afterthought, something they hastily threw in at the last minute. Given all the filler episodes with little to no plot progression, they could have handled it far better.

While the drama overall wasn’t necessarily bad, it was far from memorable. It’s the kind of drama that passes the time but doesn’t leave a lasting impression, and I wouldn’t personally recommend it.
