Thanks lol I never thought I would see my comment 7 years ago. The drama is pretty good the ambiance, the location and the music just chill nothing too serious. I love the ending too. It's nice to see Takahata Mitsuki pre Kahogo no Kahoko I kinda miss these type of roles from her.
Spot on casting for female lead acting-wise Minami Sara is alot better than Tabe Mikako at same age. Mikako is more idol trendy actress which is common back then atleast this one did indie projects to build his acting resume. I guess It will all come down to their chemistry, the production and how much material this version will cover. Also watch commenters saying OG is better blah blah if you watch the anime you know you can't put all of those into a 2 hour movie. Remove your nostalgia glasses people.
I like the concept of hiru(leech) but I have to admit I need to turn off my brain at times and overlook things that don't make sense. I also wish they crank up the thriller a bit it would have been perfect for the concept. The characters felt underdeveloped not just for season 1 but for this too. But overall I like season 2 more but season 1 has that interesting idea so much potential just poorly executed on so many levels.
Messed up characters completely overshadows an already messed up topic(infidelity) that I totally forgot it at all. I like the characters and the narration. Nakajiima Yuto has that Tsubamuki Satoshi swag, Yoshikawa Ai didn't end up annoying and Higa Manami probably with her most interesting character to date. She usually plays ideal wife, good friend aka moral compass characters here she's totally different person. I wonder if they will try to humanize these dark characters a bit or go full Kou Kou Kyoushi up to the very end. I'm already invested into the story so I think I will like it either way.
This feels less jdrama but more korean style drama (less thematic but more on the style approach) which to my surprise I really like. Female lead is great she's natural and the script is good as well. I don't mind some cliche scenes just give me more natural dialogue just like that in ramen scene and this could end up something special.
In terms of entertainment value I think this is on par with Kyou Kara Ore wa or maybe some would even put it side by side with My Boss My Hero since it has the familiar family aspect attach to it. The best about this drama tho is the pacing no dull moments every second is worth it and every character serves their own purpose. The acting is also very good comedic timing is on point but once they get to serious part they nailed it especially Shinnosuke Mitsushima that actor is just very good.
Japan being bold again with their dramas and that is a good sign. I sense this can be very good, theme in relation to story is already there and based on one episode execution is superb.
Familial bond only koreeda can explore which only enhanced by his trademark symbolic shots my favorite would be that particular carwash scene notice how it went different after that scene. It's just that the emotional punch didn't hit that hard this time, probably it's the pacing, it isn't as slow as his past films, didn't build enough momentum for it or probably the countless jabs thrown throughout the movie which made my heart felt a little numb in the end.
This drama is also very good if you are interested in human psychology there are hints of subtle moments that I think are very important and they probably didn't go in depth in worry that they might excuse them for the crime. Leaving science aside I still think this is the dumbest law ever invented what will magical change in your body at 17 to 18 but then again what do I know what I know is if something like this happen to me I probably do the same as the father. Characters in this drama are weighing on 2 sides and in the end I definitely more on the side of the chief and the reporter she may be a trash of a person herself but without her people wouldn't know these kids identity and I assure you people in Japan wouldn't let these kids have their peace they will be ostracized forever. Very good set of actors and the director knows how to use them well even for supporting roles you have Kunimura Jun, Miura Takahiro, Furutachi Kanji, Takiuchi Kumi etc. with these line up nothing can go wrong. Kudos to WOWOW for this drama that so thought provoking will make you ask questions along its journey.
Fantastic shot at the ending of episode 3, side view as she try to eat that candy off her elbow then suddenly anna ishi resurface on her highschool uniform. Love the cast these girls have some great visuals and the director knows it. The symbolism of these chairs is just to deep for me.
An enjoyable 2 hours of experience typical giddens ko movie which is a nice blend of comedic and touching moments with several media references thrown around. The theme is also fascinating and fresh haven't seen a movie tackle reincarnation/soulmates this way I would say it is well written since it's all clear to me in the end. I'm also happy that pinky will get her chance for love I know opposites attract but sometimes having the same personality works too.
One cameo is from nagi no oitoma is it safe to say both share the same universe??? but yoshida yoh is in both having the same surname..same person or probably a twin. lol
Nagi no Oitoma team did it again the formula is the same not just main characters will explore the theme but all the characters and the writer manage to weave their stories into a beautiful wonderful narrative pattern. Acting is very good the cast here is very strong I think Japan has found another Ashida Mana in Maida Nono. Having seen many Jdramas the twist doesn't feel anything special I actually saw that coming from afar but still the execution is very good speaking of execution my favorite is the homecoming part some hearwarming dialogue was thrown in that episode also that "good night" "good morning" ending is top notch metaphor. If you like family drama if you love slice of life the way Japan did it this is a must watch. My quintessential Japanese drama of 2022 as of now, Japanese sensibility at its core, they just have a unique way of observing and describing our world.
Short and straightforward zero unnecessary drama. Will explore the theme from beginning to end which exactly what jdramas are about. The subject is serious but it didn't go overdramatic kudos to animated acting and setting. Highly recommended to those who want some lighthearted drama with positive vibes.
A beautiful tale told in span of decades, the plot may seem grandeur but it's really just a simple story that might appear familiar to you. The subject is moving but not ovedramatic, it has joyful tone thanks to that jazzy music and tight pacing. Characters are very interesting they are the ones that efforlessly move the plot kudos to very good acting and script. No one can beat Japan in terms of good family drama the tone may be comedic at times but familial bond always remains grounded, relatability is really high.
