both are surprisingly pacy historical dramas dealing with the struggles of quite ordinary people. while Magnate is older and also deals with palace intrigue and rebellion, Thriving Land deals with a broad time period and the impact of the Japanese invasion and KMT governance. both have appealing central characters who are genuinely likeable, support each other, and you can root for, with strong siblings ties and found family dynamics. both are gems of the 2025 slate.
cops rather than prosecutors, a distinct dark vibe but far messier, full of redirects and even more damaged characters, the narrative similarly free of unnecessary romance
small town vibe, soft ML (though Kim Baekdu is very much not the same), lots of pretty scenery, similar type of genre crossover if you're into that aspect of kdramas
small town vibe, endearing characters, main leads gently providing good performances, an entirely normal amount of secondhand embarrassment at everyone's shenanigans, (also wrestling, probably leading to looking up the rules on the internet because who knew that was actually interesting), appealing side characters with their own interests and problems, character growth
