more than BL tropes that give a very problematic 'n unrealistic view of the queer community as a whole-and of gay men specifically-the lgbtq community majorly needs 'n deserves films that depict experiences in a realistic manner,insightful 'n impactful.
this film does a good job of accurately representing gay life in today's japan 'n maternal relationships while preserving humanism.

p.s egoist is the first japanese production including lgbtq crew members 'n director

i cringed at the sound of their voices in english.maybe because i never watch dubbed,it felt weird. gum gum pistol 😂but i must admit energy in luffy's voice was convincing

i can't believe this movie is almost 20 years old.
i remember when i first watched it back in 00's, when movies were fun 'n original and there was authenticity rather than artifice.
it approaches love through a comedic style,it's so heartwarming and refreshing.
formula 17 is one of the best asian gay movies,it spreads positivity hope and will surely get a lift to your spirit.
9/10 for emotional and nostalgic reasons
