i hate these type of moral high horse righteous "heroes". "whatever crimes they've committed we'll let the law punish them." lol if bro wasn't already poisoned I'm willing to bet he gets off scott-free and sentence all their asses to death. who tf do they think they are trying to bring charges on an emperor.
yan ze had the right idea. there's some weird anti "religious" or w/e propaganda going on towards the end with the heaven dao sect so yan ze had to die.
man i'm watching this concurrently with "a dream within a dream" and the emperor character making me mix up plots and characters between the two shows at times lol
I believe that if BJS had known he had a child or that she was pregnant, he wouldn't have sealed her powers or…
iirc, there was a character that described him as a spoiled rich kid in one of the earlier eps? lol BJS is exactly like that; so naive to the world. he tried to speedrun/hack their tribulation 400 yrs ago. bro really didn't know/think there would be hardship, he literally thought all they had to do was go down to mortal realm and chill for a some decades. he admits this in today's eps, "I thought you'd be fine if I left you with plenty of money and servants" lmao
why didn't the first shifu tell ZH about everything before he offed himself since both of them were in the know…
I think at beginning they did say he was their savior as well. It all boiled down to them being loyal because they owed him, to the point of killing themselves at his behest.
I thought about that too but then I wonder if she didn't want to name drop Prince Dingbei to implicate him? Or…
nah I think dude would've stopped and begged for his life if she had revealed her identity. if it doesn't help then it doesn't help.. but to not even do it at all is silly, you can't just chalk it up to him going through with it anyway. if that's the case, they should've played it out how you imagined the scenario.. you can't assume it won't work and not even try it in a situation like that. idc if he had all those excuses to fire at her, you think dingbei wang would just let him be? like "whoopsie, my bad your wife seduced me I didn't know who she was". just the attempted SA got his jewels chopped (they didn't show but I'd assume from the off screen sword slash and scream), imagined if he succeeded.. head def rollin
anyway, the SA attempt scene had to happen to intro a new bodyguard character. and in order for him to go through with the attempt, he needed to be unaware of who is was. with that said, they should've left her mouth gag on! because it makes zero sense that she could speak again but didn't drop that anvil of a fact on him.

ofc, but they should've kept her mouth gag on and proceed with the SA attempt.. is what i'm saying. it's bad writing to remove her mouth gag and then not have her proclaim her identity to full stop the situation.

i'm fine if they never had him take off the mouth gag, but since he did.. name dropping one of the baddest mofo in the capital would've probably helped immensely in a situation where you're about to be SA. she wasn't too shock, had enough sense to try to "reason" with him.
like I said before, had he not already been poisoned then what?

very poor writing on that part.
