I am on episode 8. Though the drama is entertaining, the ways they drag the discussions about that pendant is silly. I mean it is of grave importance since it belongs to his father who the whole palace is searching for … but male lead doesn’t dig anything on it …Every episode just tease a small talk about it between the leads just to tease us. It is annoying to see that dumb move.

On episode 12 now. Finally when male lead the Prince confronts Chu Chu about the pendant but she is disappointed that he lied about the coroner test and thus pay no respect to Prince and storms out of the room without giving answer despite the so called witch doctor is his father and he is there after a decade in search of him. These annoying stuffs test my patience despite the screenplay is good. 12 episodes to discuss just a pendant and nothing else ???? Good that there is another reason like fake coins , otherwise it would be too stupid. I do hope they won’t take 40 long episodes to reveal his fathers secrets lol.

Still many scenes from previous episodes are related to their romance. For instance Mika is in love with the swat officer who saved her life which is male lead. But she doesn’t recognise him. The drama is boring for several other reasons and not because of romance tbh.

I find almost every character is written without proper weight. Even LiQian now appears like a nobody under someone. Not to mention the princess and his wife who is busy facing the Gao girl instead of doing political affairs 😅. Let’s not waste time on discussing this anymore, I shall go and watch Imperial Coroner now. Good night ✌️

Could say the same in my case. If only the recent dramas didn’t frustrate me this much I wouldn’t have touched JOL by any means. I gave it a try and right from the start it turned out to be engaging. No drag, filler and not even an unnecessary conversation to have a second thought. Maybe someday if you are very bored and got nothing else to do give it a try. Just don’t want you to miss it xD

You gotta wait for a couple of years to see ending :P all season 2 and 3 will be connected to the main story, so the conclusion cannot be derived in season 1. Season 1 is about setting all characters, their motives, relationships and the core of the story.

I just checked your watch list and “Joy of life” is missing. After this frustrating drama I searched and found that gem, which I completed in 2 days !! It never gets bored and acting as well characters are one of the top 3 if not the best in cdramas. Check it.

It isn’t about whether a project is big or small. Without proper writing even a very very huge project will get crumbled 😅. In here though the acting looks slightly inferior I want to attribute that to the lack of intensity in writing. We don’t feel connected to any characters and this drama appears like a cartoon just doing random meaningless things assuming kids don’t think too much 🤣.

Did I miss something in recent episode during fast forwarding 👀 Or the comment in general about the past episodes 🤔

And just because someone begged LiQian ignored her crime of murder and hurting number of people by her corruption. That’s way too stupid that LiQian allowed someone to roam free only because of the request from his family. How he is different from other bad characters ?

Ep 25 and 26 : Another two boring episodes …. This drama is quickly turning from a promising one to an useless one. Time to drop.

Couldn’t believe many viewers overlooked all those annoying & frustrating episodes of second leads ! So the writer’s final trick of resorting to kisses and love scenes alone ( since he had no idea what else he could do other than those cringe & cheesy stuffs ) succeeded to blind the viewers of how bad this drama was….

With this getting 8.2 rating I doubt if they need to work any harder for better content :D

I just started Nirvana in fire, so I cannot comment. But by seeing your comment I feel “Joy of Life” will be a very good fit for your interests. It isn’t very heavy but all about strategies and how male lead raises through the power. There are several secrets which will be explored one after other along good support characters and story. Only problem is that the season 2 might come after a year and you might have to do the long painful wait like us lol. Try it (:

Decided to give it a go after watching Joy of Life. I mean Joy of life earned my trust to watch these long historical dramas xD Got really frustrated by the repetitive cold boss, contract marriage, cunning Second leads, so called innocent brainless female leads…. I am tired.

The characterisation is absolutely fine. The way male lead emoted didn’t bring the best of it and thus failing many scenes IMO. That’s just my opinion though… I had been watching a few sequences several times just to see what went wrong since technicians, music, support characters all worked out brilliantly in this.

Indeed. As if there is not enough bothersome characters, she adds more to our frustrations ! Even in recent episodes she thinks ML will be bothersome with her studies and left without even a proper farewell. Then she end up spending a long day together with SML including meals, searching home, sharing taxi etc.

Thats a problem all along this drama, she was comfortable to spend time with SML and rely on him with her day to day activities, business, family etc. But she magically loves ML who she never found comfortable, relied or trusted. Because love is magic according to writer ( well, viewers are dumb idiots who still rate this crap 8.2 )

I decided to skip noticing these since this drama is one of those thrash writing, filled with too many flaws where we should actually search if there is something written thoughtful and logical

Kim character is laughable. He does an impulsive revenge marriage with Pak to express his dissatisfaction with Mook. He annoys, irritates and leave Mook sleepless and heartbroken. When Mook decides to move on he clings around her, tries to prove his loyalty, love and sincerity to win her back lol. Marriage is a joke in his eyes and it’s funny that in the end he was the one who got played by everyone around for acting too intelligent and crooked :D

I mean, he literally did a revenge act over himself and made him look miserable. Viewers who sneak in here for an opinion to decide, skip it unless you are into dark miserable immoral dramas. This is a proper mix of them.

On 20th episode now. I can say this from my heart that this is the one and only Chinese drama which I never feel like stop watching in the middle. Might do a marathon of all 46 episodes in two days with little / no sleep haha. There is no filler or drag anywhere ! Completely engaging, emotional with superb acting from all casts.
