What could be the reason for Lan Xiang rejecting to pool the money to buy the land ? Was she planning on leaving the Lin household by some means?

Lan Xiang's main trigger is seeing the written "Lin" letter/character. That's the first one she noticed when the engagement withdrawal notice was sent. She had an emotional breakdown the second time she saw the "Lin" letter written on the wedding cake.
Now, this "Lin" character was written everywhere on the red carpet she walked on to enter the Jin Qi household on the wedding day. Now, it triggered her even more, and I am sure she was fuming inside the veil, which made her reluctant to bow.

To top it off, the stick Jin Qi used to lift the bridal veil had a big size "Lin" written on it. That's when she lost it and landed that slap on him.

I don't think she planned that slap well in advance.

It was hilarious to see the patrol officer commander witness the slap. Remember in episode 13, he commented on Lan Xiang stabbing a guy with a needle. He remarked, "That girl is ruthless. Who would marry her?" It turned out to be his close buddy, Jin Qi.

By the look of it, yes, with everyone on his tow, including his wife.

Just realized both her original name and her assumed identity has character “Lan” in it. Do they still mean “Orchid”, as the placement is different.

Episode 28 Reaction

The ending of episode 28 was so well done. Whatever fury Jin Qi’s mom had been carrying in her heart, the maid was able to bring it out through her own experience with her son, Jiguao. That made the whole moment feel so much more personal and relatable. Sometimes a mother’s anger is really just pain, fear, and helplessness coming out in another form. That scene captured it beautifully.

Jin Qi thought he will take away his new bride from his demanding family. Little did he know that almost all the family wanted to move to capital along with him except his new bride. lol

I was teary-eyed until Jin Qi's mom said, "He went to obtain an imperial decree to just get himself beaten". I was laughing so hard.

The actress playing ML’s mom is killing her role . This is my first time seeing her and she nailed it.

I thought the emperor looked familiar and it’s the same emperor from “The Story of Minglan”.

His reign was short lived(less than a year) but he was a benevolent ruler in history. He was obese and had an illness already when he took the throne. I watched “Ming Dynasty” and “Royal Feast”.

The only person he wronged was Lan Xiang. Others were merely selfish. Hope she gives him the cold shoulder and makes him earn her love and trust.
