I am confused if it's a translation issue or my lack of understanding. Who is the lady that they are calling Crown Princess, and who was receiving the marriage edict together with the ML? They are calling everyone Prince. Is that a translation issue? One moment, the ML said he is having a primary consort, and when he received the Prince Qi guy, he mentioned he is having a secondary consort.
Can someone explain this? Also, is the ML a widower?
im curious if they'll explain how the step-mother was "possessed"...was she in on it too? drugs? only…
There was a scene after the assassination attempt where Ye Li invited the stepmother for a conversation. I believe she was blackmailed by Ye Li to act that way in lieu of keeping her illegitimate affairs secret.
Ikr? They look like they are going to be comic relief. Btw did you notice he was asleep with his hat on his face…
I had an inkling they must know each other, as he was very surprised to hear that Ye Li was the target. I will re-watch to see if I can catch the guy with the hat.
Why do I get the feeling that the consort Dowager is slowly poisoning the Empress Dowager? Every time the consort dowager brings food, she gives a strange look when the empress dowager doesn't touch the food.
What's really gripping me is the masterful storytelling. I especially love a smart, calculating FL who knows exactly what she wants and has a flawless blueprint for revenge.
The fourth aunt's revenge was unwarranted. She relentlessly persecuted the innocent FL and the family. What happened was an accident. The entire eighth family had to bear too much of a burden. Her husband's death was inevitable, but the FL dad's death could have been prevented. They chose to beat him to death and also expelled the entire family to fend for themselves.
Now the grandmother is trying to justify all the fourth aunt's evil actions and reminiscing about how good of a daughter-in-law she has been. Not even once, the grandmother said, the eighth branch family's current members are innocent of their FL's father's action. Hypocrisy!
I am sorry, but the entire episode 27 conversation didn't sit well with me.
I also have been wondering if there is any backstory or conspiracy behind the burning of the tribute ink that happened 13 years ago.

It's very immature to call people haters for sharing their opinion.
