I agree with your take, though both dramas have their upsides. Nevertheless was my first k-drama ever and I absolutely hated it. I hated the characters, how overly dramatic and illogical they are. ML felt toxic for the sake of being toxic, that’s why I appreciate the ML of the Japanese drama more. He seems more grounded and human. Korean ML just seemed evil. Japanese ML has softness that makes him more human.
However, I can’t say the same about Miu. Nabi was fiery, Miu seems cold and empty, almost lacking personality. And I agree, the chemistry was almost non-existent. I wouldn’t even call Japanese version “sexy.” Other couples felt the same. Extremely superficial attraction between them. Don’t even mention style in the Japanese version. Abomination.
It might be a good time to rewatch Korean Nevertheless.
I agree with you a bit. And honestly, I have noticed that in a lot of dramas younger versions have stronger chemistry than the older ones. And this k-drama was the same, school year chemistry carried the relationship of older FL and ML, I think.
Basically, Jae-i’s “suicide” attempt shone light on the fact that her sister was not actually dead and exposed all the dirty deeds of her dad while also helping her escape. Now she can live her life in hiding far away from her family. That’s why she was training to hold her breath under water in a pool.
However, we can see the dad did not get much punishment. He knows his daughter well enough to understand that she’s not dead. So she’s looking for her and keeping an eye on Woo Seul Gi in case she knows something.
The only Chinese drama I have watched before is When I Fly Towards You and I dropped it after forcing myself to get through 10 episodes. Should I still give this one a try and commit to a longer watch?
Just finished watching this. Very decent drama, however the chemistry of the actors playing you ger leads is unmatched. I would have preferred to watch them more.
Tbh I hate the 4 episode rule. Literally the plot of the show always ends after 4 episodes. It happens in all…
In the preview they don’t show him revealing his identity in the next episode. So, maybe this mistery will last longer, if previews can be at all trusted.
I think this drama is rated lower than it should be. Most slice of life dramas are characterised as “boring,” but then maybe this genre is not for you.
I believe this drama is pretty decent, nothing crazy or dramatic, true to life story, characters feel like real human beings, nice exploration of family dynamics, fame and how to achieve it coming from different backgrounds.
First thing? Memories gone again?! Ayo whats with that trope in kdramas? I fricking hate it. It worked well in…
I think it makes sense for Master Jang to want Chae Ok to live a normal life. Something she did not get for over hundred years. So, instead of being selfish and making her relive this trauma after she almost died (not the first time), he (I assume) decided to let her live. Also, possibly, his memories were also removed, but we do not know. I guess we might learn in season 3, if it comes.
Also, dramatically, it makes a lot of sense for Seung Jo to kill Lady Maeda. She literally raised him to be a monster and a monster she got. You reap what you sow. Master Jang and Chae Ok were never about killing people on purpose. That's why Master Jang did not kill Maeda when he weakened her and had a clear chance. He wanted remorse and apology from her as he mentioned in the conversation with Seung Jo, not to kill her.
I believe all of the things happening in the series make sense. They just maybe needed one more episode to build a tighter story, show us a bit more of the past and how we got to where we are. It did feel rushed and left some things unaddressed. But personally, I was not disappointed as much as I could have been.
I’m on episode two and I don’t know if I should continue someone give me advice://…Also does anyone find…
I forced myself through it because it’s supposed to be a classic. Honestly, was not worth it. Watch Coffee Prince instead, if you have not seen it yet. That show really stands test of time.
Age gap is super weird and I could not just shake it off the whole show.
Watching for the first time. Currently on episode 9. Having watched a lot of ther classic dramas, including Coffee…
Finally finished this drama. I had to really forced myself. I feel like it could have been done in 10-12 episodes instead. Way too draggy for my taste. I guess not all classica jold up in the same way.
how is the morula staying alive when the temperature is freezing? I doubt the tube he placed it in is in appropriate…
I think morula needs to be frozen so it can be later implanted. That’s why he put it in his little freezer thingy. He was gonna do that anyways on his last day in space and then bring it back to earth frozen. But obviously, some things went wrong. He still achieved his goal though.
Watching for the first time. Currently on episode 9. Having watched a lot of ther classic dramas, including Coffee Prince, which I loved, this drama feels a bit too slow. Hoping things will pick up in the second half. If not, I would feel this drama is a bit overrated.
I 100% agree with this take. I felt like S2 had me more on the edge of my seat once the games were in play. I'll…
I think this season is more like Season 2 part 1 and Season 3 will be part 2, hence the pacing that might have felt weird with the policeman storyline. And as far as I am aware, both seasons were filmed together. But at the end of the day, it’s all a set up for grand finale and let’s hope it’s going to hold up. Also, I am sure there were some random requirements from Netflix and some tough editorial decisions had to be made on director’s part.
Overall, though, the policeman line did work for me. I like the initial set up, the time limitations put on the search team and slow reveal that rivals are two steps ahead. Keeps is guessing whether the policeman can succeed at all.
