Sun Ju wants her family back? I don’t buy it. Loelha brought up a good point - she’s been suspicious that…
She could have been married in the U.S. Maybe she divorced or the husband died and no kids. That might leave her enough money to return to Korea and a reason to tie up loose ends. You all know how the Korean soap opera plots go better than I. But in real life if she wants to start over, she goes to the U.S. on a tourist visa and stays. She's pretty and young and marriage is the quickest way to a green card.
Although he really doesn't have much screen time, out of all of them, Oh Dong Wook is the character that annoys me the most. I guess I should give praise to the actor. I wish the Uncle would just adopt his daughter and we could be done with him. He's such an absolutely useless tool.
So I think now we know who will tell JD about her parentage: Sun Ju. Given the shame for HD and her family, in…
Did I miss something? I don't think there was any divorce and I don't think there was any death certificate. They had a wallet, a story, and a funeral . No body and no death certificate. Aren't they still legally married?
Maybe the end will play out something like this. SJ, the great beauty of the neighborhood, high school and college, comes back thinking she can wrap JD and KS around her finger, as in the past. But she's ambivalent about making any claims as wife as KS is still nobody. Suddenly, KS is discovered to be the chairman's grandson, as everybody seems to think will happen. Now SJ really has a reason to stake her claim of being the lost wife. At that point, she starts using every means fair and unfair to split the KS and MR apart. Her true self is revealed to everyone and she has to flee in shame. Can that play out in 19 episodes?
It's hard to understand the mother's angle yet. She doesn't want to have anything to do with any other family members than Jan Di. And it looks like she's come back to Korea specifically for Jan Di. It's almost like the little narcissist has come back looking for a mini-me to shape into her own narcissistic image. The actress is certainly playing it creepy.
I’m actually surprised on how they do not even have a solid side storyline. This is my first weekend drama that…
I think others have made similar comments, but it feels like the writers completely changed the plot midway and all the clues and setups set earlier in the the series just collapsed. As unhappy as many were with the ending of Durian's affair, everything from the first episode to the end fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.
Wow....Chairman's daughter is awful. Since the beginning of this drama I have been very indifferent to her boring,…
I guess it's cultural, but both what CR has said and what In Ok in TRHC have said seem unforgivable, but then all is forgiven. In JDramas in particular there is behavior by individuals which is downright criminal, but no charges are pressed even when there's bodily injury, and by the end of the drama all is forgiven.
Then on the other hand someone will be crossing the street and a delivery scooter will swerve and crash to avoid them. My take would be reckless driving, but the character crossing the street will effectively put themselves into indentured servitude to pay off the damage to the scooter and the item being delivered.
I watched the last episode of Durian’s affair (out of curiosity since the episode clips also pops up in my YT…
I loved "Durian's Affair". Yes, it's crazy, but it's a time travel fantasy drama and it's got such a wonderful dry humor through out. It was steady and fun the whole way through. TRHC was great and fun through episode 9 then it went off the rails into chaebol family tragedy. If the MILs forced them to register the marriage in episode 10, I think the drama would have turned out so much healthier and believable. It would have cut off all the crazy custody crap we've been going through for the last 30 episodes. And I think the relationship between TK and YD would have developed much more naturally. YD instead of being so hesitant and distant because of the guilt and shame of bearing another man's child and being a single mother, would have had the balance and security that they were legally married. Whether it's a sham marriage or not, it's a marriage and they can't just magically get out of it. I guess the writer's thought it was just a bridge too far to have a sexual relationship while the woman is pregnant with another man's child.
I appreciate your take. You really have to think this one out!🤯 I thought it got unfocused and sloppy towards…
I particularly loved the parallel of Chi-Jeong/Park Il-Soo having his wife bearing another man's child in both time streams and Eun-Seong proposing to Ri-An that she be a surrogate mother in the modern time steam. I would have liked a more explicit happy ending for Du Ri-An.

It was choppy at the end, but the whole drama had that character. The first episode was all over the place, making the drama almost like detective fiction for the viewer. I'm not unhappy with the ending. I thought it came together much more than I thought it would would.
The whole last episode is all about karma. The post time skip scenes are ambiguous open hints at the ending, but here's my take.
1. So-Jeo apparently stars in the drama with Deun-Myeong under a different director and does other dramas. She has a child who looks about 4 or 5 years old. It's left open whether she is married to Deun-Myeong and it's his child, but it's hard to imagine her switching allegiance in the space of a year. It looks like the time skip was 5 or 6 years. Chi-Jeong's wife's child looks about 5 or 6.
2. Chi-Jeong has the same fate to have a cuckold's child in present and Joseon times.
3. Ri-An and Chin-Gam go back to Joseon and we have to imagine what happens. In Joseon Chin-Gam is a servant/slave come back to life. It's interesting to think what they do.
4. The last couple scenes are Do-Yi/Joseon MIL's forgiveness arc. Her fear of Ri-An and Dol-Soe eloping spurs her to murder Dol-Soe and they make her actions seem less evil given the mores of the time. Dol-Soe gives his blessing to the actions.
5. The Director also returns to Joseon and Do-Yi quickly slips into dementia. My take is that the Director must be the reincarnation of the Joseon MIL's thwarted and shortened love (husband who dies early so she is left with only one sickly son). If the director had stayed in the present time, their love would have been cut short by the age difference and dementia. By returning to Joseon he is reunited with Do-Yi who probably is younger as even in the same generation of the family (grandmother) is 60 instead of 70 or maybe even younger.
I hope they do a special just to tie up Ri-An, Chin-Gam, Jeseon MIL, and the director's fate.
