They want her to be this obedient, pure and meek puppet. So she's unhappy and has to live a boring life learning etiquette and stay away from gossips. Which is why she tried to stay away from Su Mo bcs he is a male.

Personally I really like her in TLLTM bcs she played 3 different characters there. Each with different personalities and speaking manners. I see in this drama she acts as 2 different characters? She is great at diversing her characters but not overdoing it. But I think AoL lovers expected Yuqi to be Liu Ying instead of Bai Ying here 🙄

Watch it yourself so you can judge. People have different taste and expectations. Personally I have issue with the production and the editing, but I have no problems with the actors or the acting or the story.

Yuqi is great at building chemistry, but somehow it didn't work with Alan Yu. For acting, Yuqi was a badass in TLLTM, but for chemistry I love ATWIL. In here I think it's bcs of their characters which they were meant to be a subtle love. Like "they are interested with e/o but they aren't not allowed to continue" so they could only have subtle skinship and conversations. it's just a warm up though. Actors can't build chemistry in a day of shooting.

Finally a wise viewer! Yes, Bai Ying is a princess trapped in a gold birdcage. She's not happy, has no freedom, she's not even allowed to speak her thoughts or wishes. She has to stay pure until her marriage, living a boring life at the tower. Basically she's just a puppet groomed to be the future queen.

For a sec I had a heart attack bcs you replied to my comment and upset with me as if I mocked Yuqi 😭 when I read it properly I think you replied to the wrong person 😅 well as a fan, I watched all her dramas. Although I hate her no chemistry with Alan Yu, she's incredible in her roles there bcs she played 3 different characters. I watched Mystery of Antiques 3 too although I don't understand chinese 😅 but she's so good there as well. It hurts a lot people mocked Yuqi as if they watched her other dramas other than AoL 🙄

I think people chose to follow the subs from viki and croton instead of subbing it themselves which would come faster rather than waiting the official subs.

We don't know yet. Gonna have to wait until halfway or until the end to know. Don't mind the comments bcs you have to watch it yourself unless when it's over the drama turns out really really awful. So you better wait.

Well here I am try to understand why people always mention Ashes of Love for Yuqi as if she only acts in one drama? 🤷‍♀️ Bai Ying is a different kind of character Yuqi used to act. I'm a fan of Yuqi and I watched all her dramas. Her acting is always good and she always nailed her characters. She also has great chemistry with her co-stars, male and female, except with Alan Yu. You guys should try to watch her other dramas, then come back here to understand BAI YING and not Yuqi.

Even NPE has some people complaining about Yang Mi, William or Xu Kaicheng or how Yang Mi and William don't have chemistry or how TMOPB is way better, but they didn't try to understand the characters and background. In order to enjoy a drama you need to dig into the characters, not comparing bcs those are different dramas with different stories and different characters to portray. Like, what's the point of comparing apple with orange? 🤷‍♀️

It's not her fault. She got a character different from her usual ones. If you're a fan of her you'd know how she nailed all her characters before this and also her upcoming Memory of Encaustic Tiles. I'm not used to her being such a meek and quiet lady, but it's understandable bcs that's how her character is.

Someone spoiled the novel ending that Bai Ying and Zhen Lan stay married in the end. I will accept that ending though. Maybe bcs I like Yecheng more? 😅 still if possible I don't want anyone to die.

I watched that HK drama when I was a kid years after it was aired in HK. But anyway humans are indeed the scariest creature. Humans have their own will which is why evil and satan can manipulate them. So if humans do crime, means they lost to evil. Also, every human has two masks: the real self and the fake one (the one they use in public). it's kinda scary to talk about this here though 😅

It's TVB drama (Hong Kong) called New Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre (To Liong To) which was released in 1986. The mother of the ML lied to her husband of her past before they got married and it was the cause of their demise. So she warned her son, the ML to be careful of beautiful women bcs they are a good liar. This sentence is scarily true even in real world 😥

Yuqi usually dubs her own characters, but this is the second time she couldn't so I'm a bit disappointed. For Li Yifeng I don't know his real voice so 😅

The easy way to know is to watch the bts video. Their voices are exactly the same. But for William his usual voice is different from his character here 😅

Really? That's too bad 😥 I don't find anything wrong with Yuqi's real voice bcs she can deliver any character so I'm disappointed.
