I will never understand why asian dramas always portray younger males as someone so childish in younger male/older female romance stories, not every human behaves like that, and this is no exception, disappointed, to say the least. FL being indifferent and/or "I don't care" or worse, bossing him around even though they were dating like he's some kid really annoyed me, ML should act more like a man though, and not lower his head that easily. Not to mention de annoying "angst" at the start, even though the FL here likes the boy (me being childish) from the beginning, you could see that. At least there had been some nicely done "sexy" moments, the bare minimum I could ask for. I hope I live to the point there will be a decent drama of this theme.
Now that's harsh. But I admit I also got annoyed by ZY's withholding important information and acting coy several…
Pretty much agree with you, maybe it was indeed an unfortunate translation choice. And maybe(?) I was overwhelmed with anger over her, perhaps my words were too harsh as well, the heat of the moment. Yes, agree again, I prefer a "one woman" type-character over being surrounded by women, those type of characters seems to always try to prove to themselves that they are the real deal, which I can't relate to, putting me off the drama. And, yes, just like the saying "opposites attract", true in some cases.
Finished episode 25 just now, and I can't stand Zhu Yun personality *deep sigh*, she said MC needed a "dog time"…
Episode 29. I felt insulted when she asked him if he ever missed her while in prison, like wtf girl? what's wrong with you??? Did I just got involved in their no-chemistry relationship for nothing? She should get lost honestly, with no personality whatsoever, I think Ren Di would be a better partner for him, they match a little at least.
Also finished the drama, and skipped some scenes, especially those with that painter guy, pointless love triangle, did aggregate nothing to the drama at all, what? to show FL that she still likes the MC? no sh*t . At least it wasn't that infuriating to me. Overall it was okay-ish only, maybe if wasn't 36 episodes I would've enjoyed it more, the main issue I see here is the fact that their romance was poorly written, MC was in prison and yet the couple barely talked about the time they missed each other, given me the impression that their romance was a 1-week thing and not profound as the drama wanted us to view.
Finished episode 25 just now, and I can't stand Zhu Yun personality *deep sigh*, she said MC needed a "dog time" really got me pissed, f*ck you girl, he was in prison while you were studying in another country. As someone whose personality is kind of comparable with MC, she really gets on my nerves, but he's too simp to just toss her aside. Didn't like their "romance" in the flashback, lacks chemistry, and seemed kinda fake, just like MC once told her, she's fake.
Hm... The word I would describe this kdrama is disappointing. It started really well but I think this chaebol thing keeps haunting me whenever I search for some kdrama. The bad buys got what they deserved? Yes, but still, I felt somewhat bitter about the younger brother and SFL resolution. In the end, they tried to trick us into thinking that the SFL was doing everything to pay ML's father's "debt", which annoyed me even more, she was so badly written. Maybe if the drama only focused on ML trying to build his life again without all that chaebol bs, it would be more enjoyable. Also, the romance part was really disappointing as well, the FL here did a great job than Our Beloved Summer in my opinion, I liked her.
I saw a lot o people here in the comments saying good things about this drama, and watched episode 1, but I just can't. I've had enough of these rich families, evil parents, and bla bla bla that everyone is tired of knowing dramas that I prefer just no stress myself. Kudos to the people who can still watch these in 2022.
One of the worst dramas I've ever watched. Imagine every trope, cliche, and bs packed up in a single show, this is the one. I thought after some years, this industry would have come up with new ideas for romance stories, but I couldn't be more wrong. Do you like pointless love triangles? nonsense break up or time apart, and irrational characters? Then this drama is for you.
Just finished episode 1 and I want to take my eyes off. A random human baited a 1000 years deity and drugged him? lmao, this is dumb af. I guess "hardworking" nowadays means tampering. Will give this garb... I mean, drama a 3 episode chance just to test my patience.
First time I've ever dropped a dorama. I can't express how irritated, annoyed, and provoked this show made me because of the FL. She is so damn annoying and keeps pestering the male lead over and over again, even though the guy said he didn't give a sh*t about her or help her. She's so damn annoying with this so-called righteous attitude. And now out of the blue, the ML started to look like a dog that wants its owner's attention (FL) for some reason. Though I have to say, the magic part with the ghosts is okay-ish but it's not enough to force me to keep watching this. -2/10 out of 3 episodes watched.
Rant. From this point on, I'm questioning if I should keep watching Korean dramas. People often say "you should look at this piece of art differently because it's from another time", couldn't disagree more. Take anime, for example, countless shows with great stories that are still relevant to this day, be it from the '80s or 90s, and so on. But it's unfair to compare this ******* drama with these anime, let's take Healer, for example, which aired ~1 year after yet it has a great development even with the cliches that dramas from these times had, or King2Hearts, which aired ~1 year before My Love from the Star. I will consider watching Korean dramas twice or thrice if the rating is above 8.5 from now on.
I'm on episode 13 right now (watching the 16 version), and come on, what the f*ck is this crap, romanticizing betrayal and playing with people's feelings. Gal Hee saying "oh, I did it cuz I luv you ya'know?" is utter b*llshit. Min Ik has the total right to be angry and feeling played at, but the people around him keep saying he's now being inconsiderate and that he didn't get Gal Hee's message(his so-called best friend said that), like??? I'm so done with this messy crap writing from these CEO romcom kdramas. Her tasting her own medicine by discovering that her sister wasn't in Pennsylvania was the best in this episode, she dared to "hiding is worse than lying" to her sister LMAO HAHAHA.
Edit1: just finished this garbage, he forgave her and they lived happily after that, end. A deserved 5/10.
It is "okay", to say the least. A woman trying to find happiness in love again, and a young man willing to give…
The fact that we were presented that she has a son with her ex-husband was too bland, he barely interfered with the story. Until episode 10, I almost forgot that she has a son, they didn't give space to the child to appear and make contact with ML apart from the scenes in the park. When ML's mother tried to interfere with their relationship, exposing to ML that FL has a son before her while she was considering/trying to confess to him that she has one. I got a really bad taste in my mouth, not because the mom did that, but because the FL took too long to explain things to ML. I get that it's not easy to have a relationship with a young guy and have a son to take care of although she barely interacted with her son, I'm not blaming the character itself, but the poor writing that didn't develop the son-mother-boyfriend relationship, giving us 1-2 max episodes with him interacting with our mains. From episode 11 onwards, I was not liking the FL as I did before, even though she apologized to him in a nice way. I totally understand ML's being mad at her.
The other issue I have is the marriage proposal. Why bother having this proposal 5 minutes left to finish the drama just to FL reject him in a sweet way? Yes, ML is inexperienced on behalf of this field, but their relationship had a great development that it didn't need to escalate this quickly to the point he proposed out of blue, giving us a bitter yet happy ending. At least that was how I felt.
It is "okay", to say the least. A woman trying to find happiness in love again, and a young man willing to give her happiness. Compared to others of the same genre such as My Fated Boy, I'd say My Dear Lady gave me a slightly better romance experience at least till the end, meanwhile, in MFB they've focused too much on FL's problems finding love with her childhood friend that is only 7yo younger, and not even having a child to take care of.
If you're searching for a lighthearted and sweet romance drama, give it a try. I had two major problems while watching this drama, gonna comment below.
I cannot express myself with words, they aren't enough. This drama started on a high note, beautiful relationship…
The fact that FL break up with her ex-boyfriend and didn't explain it to her family till halfway through the show was too dragged out in my opinion, causing some annoying misunderstandings. Like when the FL's father called her ex asking if things weren't good between them, then the ex partially lying (didn't bring up the fact that the FL broke up with him), and appeared again in the drama again, forcing his character to work with FL's company that was passing through some problems for the sake of "character development", and causing trouble for FL such as, "kidnapping" her and trying to force her to register the marriage, forcing a car accident. The whole family got upset with the ex and after that, he disappeared from the drama until late in the show, when her stepmother called FL asking her to help the ex because he was hospitalized, and she agreed, like wtf??.
But I bore it, although at this point I was giving the drama a 7.5. Now in the ending of the drama, something happened in ML company that it went "broke", and FL went out and asked another character (Xu, the boss of this game company) in the drama to help ML's company, but there was a condition, she wanted the ML to go to another city to work for her company, here I got really upset, why she didn't ask for ML's opinion in the first place? at the beginning of the show, they were so good at communicating to solve problems and now they throw this sh*t out of nowhere, just because this boss wanted to tear their relationship?? The last 3-4 episodes I almost couldn't watch, but for the sake of me liking the characters, I watched it.
I cannot express myself with words, they aren't enough. This drama started on a high note, beautiful relationship between ML and FL, they do suit each other, and the wonderful chemistry Angelababy and Kuan Lin had throughout the entire show. Story-wise is nothing new or revolutionary, your basic romcom situated in their workplace involving betrayals, some toxic co-workers, and so on. The thing I liked most in this drama was that Angelababy's character wasn't your typical reluctant older FL that can't decide its own relationship because the guy she likes is young than her, the same goes for Kuan Lin's character, they both support one another when the difficulties that their romance appears.
But it wasn't perfect, although their romance was very good, it wasn't sufficient to match the flaws that the drama has. I do recommend it if you want a fluffy romance with almost no misunderstanding in their relationship. Final rating: 7
