C-drama fans can be a bit like a cult and often attack any opposing opinions, so I’m afraid to write this review.…
i respect your opinion and it’s valid to feel disappointed when expectations don’t match but i feel like it’s a bit unfair to make such a conclusive statement when the drama isn’t even finished yet. “too much” and “not realistic” are strong claims, can i ask where exactly did it feel that way to you? because from my perspective, ye haitaing's story isn’t about dramatization for shock value; it’s about survival. surviving an abusive, narcissistic parent is messy, repetitive, and suffocating, and i think the show captures that very honestly.
and to say us viewers only call something “realistic” when there’s screaming, blood, or toxic parents feels a little shallow. i think what makes this drama resonate at least to me isn’t just those surface level elements, it’s the emotions. the way the characters’ pain, fear, and their resilience translate through the screen. that’s the kind of realism that matters most, at least to me.
also maybe this drama isn't for you, and that's okay.
they're deliberately keeping so many things and events from us omgg they better drop all the last three eps together bcs i want answers to all of my questions now!!!
CUT THE CAMERAS 😭😭😭 LETS JUST END THIS SERIES HERE WHERE THEY WERE ALL HAPPY 😭😭😭
also sheng cheng is lowkey getting on my nerves like why are you always acting all righteous as if you didn't leave your mother alone all these years like 🙄
done with all the 3 eps and all i can say IS WOW WOW WOW all my expectations for this drama they have exceeded so far, the acting (zhou yiran & wang yinglu are such stars!!!!!!), the main leads & second leads chemistry are chef's kiss, the cinematography, the directing, the soundtrack, the story..... what more could i ask for? i can't even nitpick anything i dislike at all. its so good, it's everything i ever wanted, the angst is hitting me right into the feels and ughh i hope this gets more popular!
that being said, let's hope they maintain this quality up to the very last episode!
