there are valid takes here and there, adaptations don't owe word-for-word loyalty to the source, and yes, novel fans can be a bit overbearing.
but honestly, why are ppl upset at those who want an adaption that stays faithful to the material they love? isn't the whole point of an adaptation to bring that world and those emotions to life on screen?
wanting respect to the source material isn't the same as demanding a copy. also, "if you want it faithful, just read the book" ? thats honestly so dismissive. some us do want to read it and see it well-adapted. that's not an unreasonable thing to ask.
and yes, i agree: adaptations will change things. sometimes for pacing, sometimes for medium, sometimes for budget. that's normal. but when those changes feel careless, or contradict core character arcs/themes, don't expect ppl to not speak up.
there are viewers who are just here for a good show. and there are also novel readers who are hoping to see the story they love done justice. there's a space for both.
that being said, i did watch the pilot eps and i can't say i didn't enjoy and like parts of it. anyways, its still too early to say anything definitive and there's definitely more room for the future eps to grow and settle in.
should i give the drama a chance? i love the novel so so much and its one of my favorites out there so i'm kinda scared its gonna ruin my expectations π i mean i don't doubt zhao jinmai at all but zlh on the other hand (this is no way a hate to him!) i'm just never really is a fan of him ig??? But anyways what do you guys think of the first few episodes
Did you read it in english?, in that case where did you get the novel?. I'd like to read the chinese novels in…
most novels translations you can find in novelupdates!! but sometimes there are no tls at all (just like this one) so you really have to search the raw title which you can find on jjwxc (official) or free sites like kanunu, xbanxia, hetushu and more! the downside is that since they are raws, they are in chinese (obviously) so you really have to find ways to translate it yourself if you don't know chinese at all π
Can anyone tell me (under a spoiler) how toxic the story is? Just need to know how mean the ccharacters get when…
bruh chen yi was so toxic and was so much mean in the book, i mean to be fair they're relationship was toxic from the start, there's so much tension and angst ugh its so good
i love the extras so much where they ran away to bogota/columbia (i forgot where was it) I CRIED SO HARD READING THIS BOOK (one of my faves aready) its worth it!!!
i hope they don't change the drama much from the book π€π» like i don't need them to go in detail with the explicit scenes or something but keep miao jing and chen yi's dynamic as it is!!!!
WHEN IS IT GONNA AIR I'M GOING CRAZY
