I don’t understand why no one is pointing out the obvious double standard here. This actress has already been paired with older male actors as romantic interests in previous dramas, yet suddenly it’s a problem now—only because she’s the female lead instead of a supporting character. If she were still a side role, this wouldn’t even be a discussion.
The age argument also feels exaggerated. Under Chinese standards, she is considered 18, and even internationally she is 17. C-dramas follow Chinese laws and industry regulations, not international expectations. If a kiss scene were to happen, it wouldn’t be inappropriate or illegal within the context of where the drama is produced.
International viewers also need to understand that C-dramas are not made to cater to overseas audiences. International opinions, boycotts, and “votes” do not affect domestic ratings or industry decisions. If someone is uncomfortable with a drama’s casting or direction, the simplest solution is not to watch.

omg i hate those kind of storyline, like call me pick me or wtv but I cannot stand when they make the ML give up everything he wants, love, or had passion for just because the FL doesn't like it or want that kind of lifestyle. A lot of people say she’s in everything—overexposure, but she actually not, majority of dramas are not good idol dramas bc of the ML casting, and her scripts are full of plot holes. She only has 3 actual dramas that are considered a 10/10. Yes her face is everywhere but almost every pretty popular celebrity is, which is why I think it’s weird when people tell others “she doesn’t have to be in everything” but nobody says anything about any other actresses fr. I genuinely think she should take this role rather than Bai Lu or Zhou Ye (love them down) because they already produce so many dramas this year around 2-4, and that truly overexposure. I agree, as someone who watched literally almost all of her dramas, I can say she only has about 3 dramas that’s a solid 10. But even then some of her male co-star aren’t that great or match her.
So I be genuinely confused when people say she’s in everything or have everything because she doesn’t…she gets paired with underrated actors more than popular actors. And the scripts that she chooses or her old agency chose for her aren’t that good either.
She genuinely a good actress which is why I’m upset she doesn’t get better script. Like Bai Lu pick up some questionable script but they aren’t terrible and her male leads are always popular 😭 that lady truly has it well deserved tho
