It's interesting how Hong Kong was the spearhead of dramas but now they're at the tailend. They no longer get the deserved attention they once used to get.
If you're not used to HK/Taiwan dramas, then this might not be something of your liking. Overall it's probably a 7.3 rating but I gave it a 7.5 on MDL because I liked the plotline. I liked the realism of how hard it is for someone to become straight, not getting into trouble when they are released from a long prison sentence. It's very hard to adapt to society without easily resorting to your old methods.
Randomly found this drama while searching for the 70's French Film 'Red Balloon'.
Only on Episode 5 right now and the one thing I don't understand is why the Female Lead is so obsessed with her rich friend's lifestyle. It's not like she was the evil rich girl in High School, so now the poor female lead is out to take revenge. Unless I wasn't paying attention, it seems like the Female Lead is just a psychopath. Everything she chose in her life, was her own choice(s).
Side note, the sister in this series is the best part of the show. I would of dropped the show if it wasn't for her younger sister and the sisters 'side story'.
I was on vacation and stuck with little to no internet, so found this series for free on YouTube to get my drama fix in. Had no clue this was a "remake" of the Condor Heroes (novels). I am currently on episode 19 and truly enjoying the series thus far. Each hero/character within the series has their own unique personalities and offers so much to the table for a very thick plotline. Making you crave for more.
My favorite hero in the series was the leader of the Beggars gang but once Zhou Botong started to do his "yooooo-hooooo" chants after he talks. He just cracks me up. Excited to see that they have a long list of new series dedicated to the novels. With a bunch of side story drama's diving into other characters pasts. I think this new adaptation of the Condor Heroes universe will be a solid one.
On episode 25 and so many love triangles, itβs dizzying. Also are Koreans as toxic as they are portrayed??2nd…
Hollywood is fake. That's like asking if all white people are racist, all black people are thugs, all hispanics are drug dealers, etc. because that's how they're portrayed on TV.
I've been coding a Mandarin/Chinese script for two weeks now but very annoying to get it accurate. A friend asked me to sub this series since she thinks my subs are better than IQ's.
I watched this drama at the gym while using the elliptical machine. These short episode drama's are great to watch when finishing a workout with cardio. I feel like they rushed the ending which almost ruined the whole series for me. The beginning is solid, the middle is great then the last 2-3 episodes I felt disappointed with how everything turned out. Without spoiling anything, this is a time travel/reborn "who dun nit" series. With a splash of some romance but not much.
Side note, I liked the female lead in the series (her acting skills) which lead me to add "The Girl Who Can See Smells" to my watchlist. This is the 2023 Chinese version, while I think there was a 2015 KDrama by the same name also made.

Just to refresh our memories before their drama comes out, here are the scenes of Lu Si and Yu Ning https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6xL6_6RI6A/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
This reminds me of the 'Money Game' show & there was another one where people lived in a hotel and when they ran out of money from the prize pool. They had to leave the hotel.
Characters are likeable but as for the show itself, feels like a weaker version of 'Time Taxi'. They also don't explain much regarding the whole 'time travel' thing. You're basically left guessing on what is going on behind the scenes and the "higher ups". This series could of been much better if they went a thriller route.
I was going to try and make better subtitles for this show because the ones on your standard drama sites are just terrible, using the very basic script of Open AI software. Even on IQiYi, they were using bad machine subs. No clue why they're YouTube channel has a more accurate translation vs. their actual platform.
Only 3 episodes into the show and it's a good show to just relax and watch. I think the comedy element would be more funny if I understood more about Ancient Chinese Lore & History. Other then that, just a goofy show to put you in a good mood.
