Why did Mi Ri forgive In Suk so easily. WTF was all that crying and hugging *face palm* This person abandoned Mi Ri when she was a wee child and here Mi Ri is so easily reconciling. I was only sticking around for Mi Ri's storyline and even that has gone down the drain now.

Episode 28 was such a disappointment. This drama is such a mess.

I was originally confused by the Suel Gi statement in the drama too. Someone on here who understands Korean explained that the English translation was too ambiguous and misleading. It confused almost everyone. The he that was being referred to in 'She's his daughter' wasn't Soo Hyun, but someone else who was also referred to in that same discussion. That person would have been the sponsor in need of an organ transplant. Some other user also rightly pointed out that Soo Hyun would have been too young to produce sperm at that young age which would be needed for artificial insemination. So Seul Gi could never have been his bio daughter. Nevertheless, he did treat her like his ward. I think him saving Seul Gi from Pavel was supposed to represent the fact that he never truly became a stone cold killer. As he said in the end, he was trying to survive in the world that he was thrown in. And he helped Seul Gi survive too. He did leave her in Hyun Jin's care. That's why he was able to go. He would never have been able to stay with Seul Gi, with the police after him, short of making her run away to Vladivostok and making her live a life of hiding too. He didn't trust that the police would be able to keep Chairman Do locked up. So ultimately, while tragic, I do understand his reasons.

I blame the abundance of over the top fluffy k-drama with unrealistic hollow stories. It makes it extra hard for viewers who are accustomed to superficial stories to deal with this kind of dose of reality and depth of story and characters. Even the slightest amount of tragedy never goes over well with the k-drama fandom. Le sigh.

Sung Mo really is a mastermind planner. Excellent point about what Sung Mo said that Ahn read from him. It clearly shows that Sung Mo must not have killed his father yet. I'm rooting for all of them to pull through this. Losing any one of them again really would be too tragic. I was rewatching the 1st episode, and this drama didn't waste a single second. It was all so relevant and connected to the same central plot from the beginning. Brilliant writing. Feel like binge watching all the episodes this weekend.

I'm with you. This drama is really pulling our emotional strings. Ji Soo's death riled us up and that was the perfect time to confuse us about Sung Mo. The fact that we are this confused, worried, concerned and anguished speaks for itself how well of a job this drama has done with the storytelling and getting the viewers invested till the very end.

Me neither. The comedy and romance in the earlier episodes had me fooled that this drama couldn't get this real. Boy was I mistaken. Many good literature use the same tactics. The Harry Potter series can be downright comical at times, but then it would take you down the darkest paths. And the darkness is felt all the more because of those good times that happened first. This drama really nurtured and carefully crafted the relationships between all of the characters and set the stage perfectly. So now that the hard times are rolling, we're feeling the pain. K-drama are usually so light and fluffy, nobody was prepared for this. Maybe that's the reason for the negative reactions. It is a lot to take in and process.

You and me both. Each of the characters have been so clearly fleshed out. And all the relationships are so well built. This is why Ji Soo's death hurts so much. She wasn't just a potential love interest for Sung Mo. She practically raised Ahn. She was a role model for Jae In. She was Dr. Hong's best friend. Her colleagues were absolutely shattered by her death. She meant so much to so many people. All the side characters are independent entities, not just one dimensional empty characters.

The symbolism really is amazing. That bird in the cage that was shown from the beginning alone was so much foreshadowing for the story that was unveiled. In this past episode, when Sung Mo said that keeping his mom in a cage was particularly cruel, that was such a strong punch. I was thinking only of how she's safe as along as she's in police custody, but Sung Mo thought of what it means for her emotionally to be confined again. Oof, this drama is just too good. And there's so much to ponder over.

Plus the drama has been hinting from the start that Ahn seeing only pieces of the puzzle can be really misleading. The drama practically foreshadowed what's going down right now.

Same. If this drama is teaching us anything, its not to take everything at face value. Sung Mo has been saying from the start that Ahn's mission will be complete when he is able to read Sung Mo's memories. I'm starting to think that Sung Mo believes that the only way Ahn will accept the truth is if he sees it himself. Ahn himself said in this episode that he doesn't believe anything anymore. It almost felt like Sung Mo was putting up an act to get Ahn riled up so he can take his psychometric abilities to the next level and read the truth from Sung Mo. The truth of the apartment fire must be really unbelievable or really complicated. If Sung Mo was this criminal mastermind all this time, why would he have wanted Ahn to read him. The writers of the drama are truly genius, they have created so much circumstantial evidence against Sung Mo that its near impossible to keep believing in his innocence. On top of that Ji Soo's death made us lose our minds and that was the perfect timing to confuse the viewers about Sung Mo, right when we were feeling really emotional and reeling from Ji Soo's death. So for these reasons, I don't think that Sung Mo is a murderer. I doubt he has killed even his father yet. The chances of Sung Mo surviving the finale are very low at the moment though. Gah, this drama will be the end of me.

This is story telling at its absolute best. We've been given information in bits and pieces, until we're starting to see parts of the puzzle, but even now, there are pieces missing and the complete picture isn't clear. So many k-drama love to have childhood connections and childhood trauma as the basis/background of the story, but not enough weight is given to the trauma itself, or how it might impact someone for life. It is used merely as a vehicle for the sake of propelling the story forward. Here there is no glossing over the fact that the kind of experience Sung Mo and his mom faced, and how even the law failed them, its not something that a person can recover from or put behind them. Truth can be so complicated. We hide the truth even from ourselves. Truth is such a relative and subjective concept for humans. People can have more than one side to them. No drama has made me reflect so much and got me rooting like crazy for its characters quite like this. Maybe Secret Forest was the only such drama before. Yes, this drama is driving me absolutely bonkers and quite honestly, it hurts, the direction the story has taken. But that's what makes it all the more real. I could really use more well crafted and well thought out stories like these with such an amazing cast.

You said it. I'm honestly awed by the writer. Didn't see any of these plot twists coming at all. And I'm so crazy invested in these characters just like everyone else on here. That is indeed the biggest indicator that the writer has done a good job of it. Aren't we all sick and tired of the same ol' stories with same ol' patterns, cliches and obvious mysteries. It doesn't get better than this.

Same. Sung Mo dying or turning out to have set the apartment fire on purpose would be too much to bear. My guess is that Sung Mo accidentally set the fire while fighting off his father, or something like that. and definitely not on purpose. I can't watch this perfect bro-ship crash. Andaaayyyyy.

No, Sung Mo isn't in love with Jae In. Sung Mo's father doesn't have any grasp of human emotions and mistook Sung Mo's keen interest in Jae In incorrectly. As Sung Mo's father was following him around and saw him watching over Jae In. He misunderstood it as the same kind of obsessive interest as he has in Sung Mo's mom. Sung Mo has been saying from the start that Jae In is a person that Ahn has to meet. And Sung Mo is the one who got Jae In to help Ahn. He understood that both of them were haunted by their past and Ahn was hiding from his ability, never really letting it develop. So no, there couldn't be any romantic interest from Sung Mo for Jae In. He practically brought these two people together. My theory for Sung Mo's keen interest in Jae In's welfare is that Sung Mo actually is or at least feels partially responsible for the apartment fire. So he took in Ahn and became Jae In's patron through the church. That's what makes most sense at the moment.

I know right. I haven't been this shocked since Sirius died in the middle of the Harry Potter series. This is about as evil as a writer can get. To make us watch the rest of the episodes and feel Ji Soo's absence and see the fallout of her death. Dang, the writer isn't kidding around. I hope you'll continue to watch. Who knows what other surprises the writer has in store for us. In a way, I'm more invested now. Because this is devastating story telling.

P.S. I don't think Sung Mo set the apartment fire. He couldn't have. Though him being Jae In's patron and taking in Ahn makes sense with this piece of the puzzle added in. It would also make sense why he was so sure that Jae In's dad is innocent. But darn it, I'm going to stay in denial until Sung Mo confesses it or Ahn sees it himself. No way am I giving up on Sung Mo so quickly.

It's not just you. I'm a little tired of all those super cute and fluffy unrealistic k-dramas. So I'm always looking for a slice of reality. This just got real, which is breaking my heart, but I'll take it over those sugary cute overdose dramas any day. Damn, did not see any of these plot twists coming. I do get where Rawad is coming from though. Those early episodes with the epic bromance were everything to me. It wouldn't be killing us so much if it hadn't started out like that. This is really good and brutal story telling. Build characters and emotional ties and then completely deconstruct them. I guess I wasn't expecting a K-drama to pull out all the punches, so the shock is all the more reeling. Anyways, I'm in it till the end. I don't see how Sung Mo is going to come back from all of this in a single piece. I can't watch any more of my bbs die. Jaebal. I loved Ji Soo too, she was so driven and persistent, who wouldn't have liked her. Ahn has lost the two people who were closest to him and helped him over the years in a single blow. I haven't been this struck since Sirius died in Harry Potter.
