The most worrying part is that it is split in two parts and the main female actress changes in part 2... (I get that the character is supposed to stay the same, but still...)

I completely agree on the ex part. For JW I believe he has settled that past that's why he can talk simply about it. But from SJ's overhearing PoV, I think he's putting all the pieces in wrong places and broke his heart...

ep5 epilogue showed precisely JW's feelings imo. He's clearly pushing SJ away on purpose. I am also hurt seeing SJ hurt, but I can't help feeling that JW is also hurting himself doing this. The show is so tuned in SJ's PoV and JW as a character doesn't share much, but the whole vibe I get from his micro-actions and look in his eyes is deep love for SJ (which in turn makes me certain he has no more feelings for the ex). I wonder how this will be resolved, especially after getting hurt alongside SJ during ep6 - it feels his heart kept breaking piece by piece in each scene... When he went back to the car in the last scene with JW he seemed defeated and the eavesdropping just nailed him (and me)...
Looking at the preview for this week, SJ is wearing the orange jacket which means we'll get the screaming scene as seen in the S2 trailer... aaaaahhh!!

My take is, he forced himself to leave SeoJoon (reasons unknown, maybe to protect SJ’s popularity?) and in fact its hard on him to ignore SJ when SJ’s so straightforward. So earlier on JW noticed SJ hurt his lip while he was still being worried and searching for the kid. So at that moment Jiwoo lost his control and kissed SJ. I’m sure he’ll regret it next because his reasons for leaving are probably still valid to him, but its a hint he still loves SJ and separation is also hard on him.
I get that Jiwoo is frustrating for not communicating properly but i go by the assumption that a) he loves SeoJoon and b) he has his valid reasons for leaving like that. That’s the feeing he gives me (keeping that shirt was also intentional). We have this whole season to figure out what the reason is and for him to learn to be more open (especially towards SJ) but I’m rooting for them. I just get soulmate vibes from them..
