When does the mother stop being annoying and interfering? or is this one of those dramas where she is a bitch…
She is insufferable throughout his teens. After ep 14 or so her character fades away. We do get some closure in the final episode where it's implied that the mother is trying to reconnect with JQX by learning what he likes but JQX treats her at arm's length (they don't really meet but when she does call, their conversations don't last beyond a minute or so).
The father's relationship with him is also awkward in the last episode but they probably have a better connection since Cherry is anyway in good terms with his dad.
The parents have divorced so I'm guessing their family dynamics isn't as toxic as it used to be.
Honestly if you forget that it's an adaptation of a novel, the drama's pacing was actually really good. They even…
Some fans are just overzealous I guess. I kind of understood their pain while watching TPR since his screentime was more or less similar to the FL's in TPR. Guess fans should be more flexible and understand different stories have different requirements?

LTL is available on Netflix only so far as far as I can tell since the fansubber I follow dropped it. Uploads every Sunday (so far only 1 episode is out)🙈

"The flavour was unmistakably Japanese" is the perfect way to summarize it 🤭
Is "Cinderella Closet" the drama with the guy who is dressed like a girl? The trailer looked interesting! 😁 I'm planning to watch it once all the episodes are out (I'm currently watching "Learning to Love" and it's a pain waiting for episodes)

Exactly. If i remember correctly, one of the deleted scenes include JQX settling the hospital bill right? I feel like the way they handled it was more effective. Showing him actually pay the bill is practically spoonfeeding facts 😅

🤣🤣🤣 IKR?! Even I didn't expect to really like it since it sounded so cliché. Glad I was wrong🙈
Oh also- Marry My Husband Jversion- it's worth the watch. They changed the ending so it feels different from both the webtoon and Kdrama versions. How do I put it? It feels familiar and yet different at the same time🙈

We meet again! 🤣👋
Did you complete the drama? I watched this along with The Princess Royal. The joint experience was surprisingly interesting (given how much focus was given on soulmates and lifetimes together in TPR)🤭
I love the leads and would love to watch this show if they have a good progressive romance . Please fill me in
It's quintessentially a coming of age drama. There is romance, first love, and unrequited love but most importantly we get to see how several kids who have known eachother for most of their life grow up?
Family dynamics and their impact on youth tend to have more priority throughout the first half of the drama.
We see everything through the FL's pov so some characters may feel underutilised at times but personaly I feel that it's just a creative choice. Since I'm not an uber fan, the choice to give the ML limited screentime for most of the drama made sense for instance (since the drama is in the FL's POV and she's not supposed to know what he's upto most of the time).
They officially get together quite late but it's really 🦋🦋🦋 whenever they are together regardless of their relationship status.
The ending is satisfactory as well IMO since they didn't leave any loose ends.
The parent in this was worst. Of course, no parents want to outlive their kid but instead of seeking therapy she…
Based on what was implied, the mum is trying to connect with JQX but he isn't too keen (he barely spends more than a minute when she calls) nor has he given her a chance to show that she has changed.
Same with the father- he's more close with Cherry than with his own son since JQX doesn't really put any effort to connect with him.
The parents have divorced too so their toxic connection is at a minimum.
Not the worst outcome given how dramas tend to gloss over parental abuse i guess🙊
I can never and will never want to be a Yintao or my daughter, that is an obsession of the highest order, any…
She didn't leave her future behind though😅
She used her "obsession" to reach standards beyond her expectations. It was her driving force and even in a way influenced her choice of career in the end (to be a supporting force for children in general).
Even with JQX's case, he was willing to startover for her but she convinced him to stay in HK and complete his existing program despite the long distance.
i watched the drama and i realized that female lead is a luxury, i mean i was jealous of her how she had love…
I really loved how YT made it extremely explicit to JQX just how much she had suffered throughout her life because of him (even if it wasn't intentional). She didn't invalidate her struggles.
Her love for him is pure and it's amazing how much she understands him but still she wanted him to truly understand the consequences of his actions 🥲
She doesn't sugar coat it even later (like when he didn't login/ failed to inform that he was busy)

Does the novel go into detail about their first life? Before the misunderstandign? They seemed so young and in love during the flashbacks 🙈
