Awww you beautifully captured the very best of Qian β€οΈHe's my favourite character too.. like you can't help…
The way you phrased it ππππ
Yes!!! I just love how Yuan practically is burning with hunger the way he's looking down at Qian whereas Qian is gently holding Y's face while looking into his eyes with this beatific smile πππ
Looks like they weren't kidding when they said that the scene would be shattering Taiwan's existing NC scene formats if the scene is even remotely like the photobook πππ

Now that's dedication π
Haha ikr?! I can't wait to see the all new "chill" Yuan π€£
The trailer bit for ep 8 still makes me laugh - the fact that Qian literally was welding a knife while calling out SP/ Lili while Yuan's just enjoying the show (with popcorn too)π€£π€£π€£
The scene with the watch- (drama in ep 7, somewhere in the first 10mins or so before the new year's scene they show Qian looking at his watch in Yuan's room i think). The scene is very subtle so it is easily missed. In the novel- it's in chapter 54.
But if you want to get Yuan's pov from the point SP started meddling, i would recommend reading from chapter 51/52 onwards. Chapter 54-55 covers Yuan's time in the US amongst other things. Chapter 56-59 onwards, Q and Y reunite, and have their flirting era (the point we are in), and eventually chapter 60 onwards they get together.
I may have used the term "Gritty" a bit loosely but in the novel, the characters and the story arcs seemed a bit more aggressive compared to the drama. The genre is more Action than romace i guess?
For instance, Yuan in the drama is such a heartbreaking sweetheart right? Even around the time he started to slowly lose control of his feelings? Well in the novel, Yuan is a bit more cunning and obsessive...and really possessive of Qian. He tries testing Qian and in a way can be a bit manipulative. You still can't help liking him since you know he means well and would even die for Qian and it's understandable why he is the way he is once you find out about his backstory but the personality difference between the 2 Yuans is a bit jarring at first.
The story itself i can't really say much since i didn't really follow it but from the bits i gathered, Qian and Yuan suffered soooo much more in the novel than what the drama has told us so far.
Oh and Sangpan and lili do not get together in the novel at all. They are still close like siblings but have their own lives.
There are new characters in the novel that we aren't familiar with but it's ok as long as you get the general gist. The drama doesn't really follow 100% of the novel anyway so anything not connected to Q and Y can be skipped.
Wei Qian deserves everything. EVERYTHING Chris truly has embodied his character. I have read/seen shows with similar…
Awww you beautifully captured the very best of Qian β€οΈ He's my favourite character too.. like you can't help liking everybody but there's a special soft spot for Qian. Chris did a phenomenal job bringing Qian to life.
Also- any regrets from listening to us? Now that you have to wait too? ππππ
Sanpang isn't really that bad...he's just looking out for Qian since he knows first hand how terrible Qian's life…
Haha tell me about it π
His heart was in the right place but boyyyy is he a Hypocrite. Wish if they'd show how SP and Lili ended up together. Did SP feel horrified too at first? Did he runaway?ππ€£π€£
There was a pretty big earthquake in Taiwan today so itβs possible the episode is going to be postponed.
I hope not but it does sound really bad.
Is Unknown streamed on the local network? (I mean mainstream Taiwanese tv channel or whatever you call it?) If so, they might postponr depending on how bad it gets by Saturday πππ
Those who have read the novel can you tell me what illness does Qian has?
According to the novel he gets a tumour or something like that towards the end of the novel (but it get's cured via surgery- Yuan even doesn't find out about it till after the surgery).
The drama seems to be leaning towards complications with the head injuries he got back during his mob days (i mean they showed in one of the early episodes where they connected a headache to this flashback where Qian's head gets bashed to the ground during his last fight with the gang). Since we will have one more mob scene according to the trailer, may be the fight causes further damage?
It doesn't help that Qian is the King of Workaholics eitherπ€·ββοΈ

Even Kurt's voice in all the interviews sound so delightfully sunny (if it makes sense)
(The others sound nice too but Q's voice stands out for some reason)

Either way, it will only be temporary :)
Specially with reels covering "future" scenes like this - Saturday is way too far awayππ
