TBH the ML's "nasty" tactics are rather nerdy- it's just overtime + more physical intensive work when he gets mad.

She does get hurt at one point but compared to other overbearing jealous MLs, Lin's pretty tame. He doesn't harras her either/ try to make her jealous or incompetent.

And let's not forget viewers who expect serious topics discussed in romcoms (and look down on delulu tropes).

For example Cinderella trope plots are still liked by some but others are either just tired of the trope or find it insulting.

Personally I like this drama compared to most 2025 romcom Kdramas specially because the MC is rich, smart, and independant but are not afraid to use their Nepo cards when needed (and the misunderstanding is something new).

It's impossible to be put out by Lin's behaviour since even he said that he didn't blame her for the accident. It hurt him how easily she abandoned him- specially considering how she claimed that she fell in love at first sight🥲

2011 Jan - Lin falls for XG during a banquet but doesn't get a chance to introduce himself. Shortly after this, Lin ends up in a life/ career changing car accident while he was on his way to meet XG for the first time on a date at "her" request as communicated by his friend.
This scene is important to understand the ML's behaviour so if you haven't seen this properly, let me know as my explanation is too brief here TBH.

Mid 2011 - Mid 2012- XG's senior uni life begins. She has a one sided crush on one of her batch mates (ZX) which unintentionally attracts a lot of problems (jealous/ unreliable roommates + college gossip). ZX does not accept her proposal to date. Heart broken, XG goes on a short European study tour with her cousin for about 1-2 months.

Sep 2012 onwards- XG starts working and eventually meets her very erratic new Deputy Manager, our dear Mr Lin.

We are currently in Feb 2013- early March 2013 approximately as of ep 22 (Chinese New Year from the skii trip arc was in Feb 2013)
