Even if XG forgot to pass the message, he had no right to grab her phone or look at her so disapprovingly. The fact that she kept denying it should have made him wonder if something did happen. This is beautifully reflected through the way XG handled Lin's misunderstanding. She didn't accuse her father or Lin for lying and instead noticed there was something off instead.
