Yes, his eyes seem to say as much, but he already knows she only likes Yan Zheng, and on top of that, he also knows the Marquis cares for her. He pretty much knows deep down he doesn't stand a chance.

I also can't fully hate QiMin. I'm looking at things from his POV, and he's a very much a traumatized person. The way he treats his kid, I also understand his rationale. He doesn't totally hate Bao'er; otherwise, he wouldn't waste time making him practice to write. He's putting Bao'er through the same hardship as himself to learn to pretend and hold everything in for survival.

It's not mentioned yet in the drama, but people who read the novel said he was drugged when he was with QQ, leading to Bao'er conception.

Yah, I pretty much deduced it the way they kept praising and upping their respective student and husband's positive traits. The funniest part that I enjoyed was when ChangYu mentioned "matrilocal," because this fact will truly deliver a big surprise to the Scholar Tao when he finds out student and husband are one and the same person. 🥰
