I'm curious (I know novel is different from the drama in terms of how this plays out). But in your perspective what was LBY's feelings towards SS before the lantern festival. For example he looks very intrigued in the carriage scene (when they first met) but i'm sure he's met interesting women before. What was it about SS that got his attention? Is it the fact she turned in her granduncle, her voice, her logic or her hand (how graceful it was etc.)

I know during the lantern festival he sees her clearly for the first time and falls for her but he seemed to have some feelings for her before as well. I'm curious what other peoples thoughts are?

Agreed she needs to be a bit of both to keep up with LBY. I think SS when she grows older will be very similar to Consort Yue. Kind and soft hearted where it counts but also pragmatic and not easily bullied by anyone - and with what she's experienced I can also see her protecting others and also inspiring others to be their best selves.

Oh this is a very good assessment! I agree, I think she is testing the water with these elder figures in her life to see how much she can trust them. And it's fascinating that LBY picked up on it so quickly. He is so smart and aware not just of himself but other people as well.

Yes they get engaged! But that makes so much sense now, I didn't realize he gets exiled!

He's too tough on LBY's character haha - but it makes sense to me because everything i've seen of Wu Lei indicates he is a VERY caring and kind person and always taking care of his co-stars etc. so to him LBY's personality is probably too severe and overbearing.

Spoiler** I think LBY ends up breaking off their engagement to go pursue revenge (something to do with everything he's investigating right now) and then somehow they are apart for 5 years before he comes back to the Capital I think... I can't understand mandarin so I haven't read the books but based on spoilers i've seen they are apart for a while and he leaves SS heartbroken ...

They did say in interviews SS experiences the most growth in this arc and through her relationship with the Empress, so we will see how it goes. I feel like even though the third Princess was daring enough to do that, if she had truly gone overboard in hurting SS she would have been in a lot of trouble with all three of her parents and LBY. But based on previews for next weeks episode... the Fifth Princess literally not caring if she dies is next level.... I have a feeling SS is going to figure out a way to fight back tho

yes that was horrible :( .... and its such a weird balance because I know how independent SS wants to be and wants to take care of herself, build her own power etc. I hope she comes around to accepting his help a bit more at least when it comes to her safety.

I am also confused about this, I thought they were labelled by birth order regardless of gender but its confusing especially because there is a third Prince and third Princess.... Today's episode also mentioned that the Fifth Price was born by Lady Cheng (so not a child of Consort Yue or the Empress)

Me too <3 :( ... even though i've been watching K and C dramas for a few years now I've never been this obsessed before with a drama or couple. I signed up on MDL and started using Twitter (because I can't get a Weibo account) to stay up to date lol....

I was thinking that might have been partially why he insisted on dropping her off everyday and picking her up. He said he will investigate how she got hurt in today's episodes so we will see what he does.... I was personally shocked at how hateful the third Princess is tbh...
