Though there are some posts that are making fun of the whole JYH transformation from Immortal > Half immortal/half 9 tail fox > 9 tail fox > mermaid and since its her, she can do whatever she wants 😂 😂 😂 😂

I need to rewatch it a couple of times I think to figure it out more, but I think your explanation is a good possibility. But MEH not the ending I was hoping for. I felt like all the other couples had better endings that were clear cut. Plus, I think this "I'll sacrifice myself for everyone" trope over and over again was making it less impactful each time and I got tired of it by the end.
