And the certified letters threatening KSR with massive resurrected debt is a HUGE failure, and this is compounded by several of GM's statements this week. Today, they finally admit it was a "paper tiger" (illusionary threat). They just wanted to scare her. There was no way she would ever actually fact that debt. And they didn't answer her desperate calls for clarification because they wanted her to stay scared. Scared and obedient!

But scare her they did. Enough so that she took her own life!

And they compounded this should-be crime several times this week with all the misleading statements which left everyone thinking the debt threats were in fact real.

GoldMedalist are scum and should be punished for that!

KSH is in the clear vis-a-vis correctional justice. But if the family ever does file a civil lawsuit there are several avenues to allege cause. And GoldMedalist has not done KSH any favors by their ham-handed approach.

An admission and an apology is all the family originally wanted.

It would have been much better for KSH/GM had they waited like they originally stated to hold a press conference this week and not issued a fusillade of poorly-conceived statements.

I was harsh on KSR's family too, at first. But I really respect how they've approached this so far. And the fact that they have been seeking an apology and admission of the relationship—and not money—is very much in their favor. I like to think KSR would feel proud of them.

Pretty much. From KSR's bereaved family's latest statement (partial):

The family has a perfectly concise statement:

I actually agree with you on this point. I originally posted about the depraved heart law from the USA and suggested SK might consider adopting something similar. I have also posted about the age of consent law and clarified as you did that it does not apply. (Attorney Woo taught us that in such circumstances the defendant gets to choose whichever law—new or old—is more lenient.)

The fine/money aspect is also a non-starter. They had already forgiven her debt so it's both rude and impossible to renege on that after the fact.

In GoldMedalist's latest statement—regarding QOT—they now claim "we have never demanded compensation from Kim Sae Ron for any damages to the drama. It is also not possible to claim compensation for posting photos online or contacting other actors at the agency."

They go on to say the reason for sending the threatening letter was "to prove that the debt repayment was requested but was not collected, as it cannot include that the debt does not have to be repaid. If we had stated that she does not have to repay the debt, we would be exempting her from her debt, which could have caused tax issues."

Of course KSR didn't understand any of this and no one was accepting her desperate calls for help, so damage done.

Frankly, I'm with the family. All they wanted was an apology. But now I want a bright light shone on the goings on in the entertainment media/ studio/ reporting/ promoting ecosystem so it becomes increasingly difficult for elites to get away with business as usual.

But I don't care if KSH is ruined. I think his fate will take care of itself. And if he does possess the wherewithal and humility to display genuine remorse, then maybe the SK public with give him another chance. Or not. Whatever.

Why did this all of a sudden show up on the home page Featured feed? This is not the most-recent article on this topic. And previously one had to click 'recent' to even see it.

This is literally the eighth statement they've released in a week. The first one was just a placeholder (give us time to make a proper statement), making a total of seven statements where they keep changing their story to fit the evolving facts.

Statement #2 was the first big lie—"KSH & KSR never ever dated not on this planet or in any universe, ever!" (sic). The rest have been backpedaling as evidence is revealed to expose the lies.

How do they believe in their own credibility at this point? They are panicking and desperate to never admit their star dated an underage girl. How pathetic!

His studio kept up that lie until it fell apart last week. Since then they appear to be entirely desperate to avoid admitting the relationship began while she was still underage.

I think I saw one posted on the Knock Off page.

The Studio (maybe his brother/cousin) kept calling KSR's parents, not KSH personally. And her father implied they only wanted to work things out privately the traditional way (meaning giving them large bags of cash to keep quiet.) That backfired big time.

KSH can still come clean and take his chances. He hasn't actually committed any crimes (the age of consent was 13 when they first dated and she was an adult by the time it was raised to 20). It'll be up to the Korean public to decide his fate. But he has the whole industry and entertainment media ready to run cover for him, so he should probably give it a try.

But he will have to be sincere, bow deeply, apologize profusely, and learn true humility.

He is going to have to do a lot of tap dancing at this point to convince the world he is a victim. Even with the compromised entertainment media running cover for him, his studio has already released a total seven statements so far, back-peddling each time as their lies have been exposed by evidence presented by netizens.

He should have simply done what the mother initially requested — admit the relationship and apologize. Because he couldn't do that—and thought that lies, intimidation, and bribes could save him—things have already gotten well out of hand.

I sincerely doubt he will be returning to Seoul or even SK anytime soon. If he does, then either he will throw himself to the mercy of public opinion and retire, or perhaps Disney or Prada or a conglomerate of industry power players will have taken control of his fate and he will do as they command.

There are laws to prevent that (face-swapping, etc.). Actors rights are protected—even actors whose scandals threaten productions. Maybe if KSH is pushed hard enough he might be persuaded to sign away his rights in this case.
