Hi, I currently watching EP10 but I wonder why did WKX killed White Impermanence ? I thought he will kill Changing…
Because he saw The Hei Bai Wuchang (黑白無常) as a couple. No reason to kill, just he can't stand the happy couple in front of him. In epi 10 A Xu kinda broke up with him thus he went crazy and WKX didn't wanna see a couple - not when he's brokenhearted like that. Crazy? Yes! That's Wen Kexing for you :D
Another mythology reference is The Hei Bai Wuchang (黑白無常) might be represented by one single being called Wuchang Gui. So in the context of SHL/WOH killing one of them might not be a problem.
i notice in c-novels/dramas they really focus on morality. i think that's a pretty big miss since it's such a…
In China, Danmei isn't representing LGBTQ+ community, please note that. It gives context on the queer community but not representing it. According to latest data, most of the BL fans in China are female, and most of them are heterosexuals. (in Baidu Post Bar of Danmei, around 92% fans are female) and 80% of them tend to have more empathy to homosexuals.
Taking from US-China today:
"Perhaps surprising to the West, the sociological impact of Danmei fan culture is not limited to issues surrounding male-male sexual desire or the gay rights movement. In fact, the majority of frequent Danmei writers and readers are heterosexual women, rather than men. The writing, reading and sharing of boy’s love stories on different online and offline platforms provides valuable spaces for women to exercise agency and power in China’s at-times misogynistic cultural atmosphere.
According to Xiamen University researchers interested in Danmei fandom, such gendering “not only corresponds to the demographics of Chinese-speaking key fandoms, but also points to the key role of [Danmei] as countering the evident gender hierarchy in the sweep of active fandoms in general.” Since a large part of Danmei stories focus on erotic depictions of male-male love fantasies, producing and consuming these stories is a way for young female fans to explore their long-repressed sexuality, and imagine men in a non-masculine context. "
Also according to statistics, Jinjiang Literature City, one of the most popular online sites for BL story publication, the site has attracted more than 7 million registered users and most of them have spending power so no brainer that mainstream media monetize this with many BL IPs.
Cute chemistry. Would've loved to see more of them together as "god's". Didn't like the plot, it was slow and…
First of all TGCF isn't wuxia, the genre according to Douban is costume drama because no wuxia element in the anime itself. If you are talking about the novel, the overall genre is still drama with Xianxia immortal gods element there.
Back to WOH, them as GOD is unlikely because censorship in China might not allowing producer and the maker to continue the story. Even them as GOD is "hidden" under music video in episode 37 due to censorship issue.
The ending in the novel is different compare to drama, no GOD there :)
Watched this for Zhang Zhehan and really don't understand FL character here also super lazy writing beyond logic in the 2nd half of the show - understood this is fantasy story, but at least do some effort to write a good script, please.
I feel the creative team and scriptwriter didn't do any justice to the actors' ability and efforts. *sigh*
I guess I should stick to my original intention: watching it for Zhang Zhehan only. No comment for others and I should congratulate myself because I can endure this :p
Which one is your Ah Xu? https://twitter.com/YoukuOfficial/status/1390610361397567491
Big applaud to Youku social content team!! They really nailed it big time! I love the way they approach their audience by taking many internet references and memes, hahaha!! This video really looks like a fan video.
Ruyi pavilion is cute before epi 20-ish, after that the script went lol!
