Beautifully orchestrated story…. The characters, the weaving of timelines, editing, directing, acting, visual design, sound textures…. My heart was fully invested. Bravo 👏
The lead i was most disappointed in was Han Ji Min. Her cutesy glances, never ending mild giggles 🤭, wistful innocent portrayal, was dull. I am a fan of her work, but here, she phoned it in, relying on gimmicks that she knew would be acceptable, but not taking any risks, or reaching for layers. It did not help that character was lackluster to begin with. Her work, her aspirations, her approach to love, was all mediocre at best. I hope they at least got paid well.
well yes i do think that it's good to let female characters be 'toxic' in fiction when irl it's mostly the men…
that’s some serious trauma you’re pointing out, and part of my theory as to why dramaland fiction is like this…. we are hurt. patriarchy dynamics have hurt everyone and our sense of reality is skewed, one way or the other.
genuinely curious why it’s mostly our fl(s) making hurtful choices towards their lovers, either through self…
at least now we have him making choices for himself…. he is able to say it’s all simply too much. he can’t handle so much uncertainty in life at the moment.
genuinely curious why it’s mostly our fl(s) making hurtful choices towards their lovers, either through self service or noble idiocy. is the state of patriarchy such that we can’t have men in fiction being the ones making poor choices, but rather have to be the doting/devoted ones? must they take whatever is given to them by the person they are in love with, and keep on loving them until the end? ok, its not always like this, but often enough that I am left wondering…. what are the deeper implications here?
my best guess is that this was referencing that photo he saw of her, that made him believe she was doing well…
yes, though in response to previous comment - referencing the deep unresolved undercurrents of the characters - my working theory is still that this was a reference to how he imagined her, after seeing her captured by that photo, when he went to her house to work on her door. 🚪he said he could keep going because he saw her smiling in that way. it’s not referencing their current reality, which is turmoil and angst - not bright and shining.
Later Park So Hyeon even referenced her brightness in that photo while they sat in front of the fire.
Just trying to understand the title of this drama "Still Shining"...Who the hell is "still shining",…
my best guess is that this was referencing that photo he saw of her, that made him believe she was doing well somewhere, and allowed him to move on… at that moment I remember thinking that the title was connected, even though it was far from reality, like all the choices and misunderstandings in this drama.
WHY does she n e v e r hear Hanaoka’s thoughts. Feels like sucha a discrepancy in the core principles of the world the writer created. On episode 4, open to thoughts 🤓
