I too have the same feeling towards the step mom. First, she kept Shaoyao locked, made her drink that medicine which no one knows if it makes her mentally ill or delusional/confused so that she will not remember the details of the fire incident same also with the male servant, their father mentioned that Dao Yang is also delusional. Why was there no attempt on the life of Shaoyao and the surviving male servant for the past several years... why only when she stopped taking the meds and Gu Yanxi came back and started investigating.

Would you know how actors are chosen by production team? There are some actors who seem not to perfectly fit the role and acting wise are not so good but always bagged the lead. Obvioulsy they did not audition for the role right?
