I read the Vietnamese version of this book. Vietnamese is almost exact translation because old Vietnamese is actually Chinese-based word for word. I do get frustrated when reading English translations because there are Chinese words (especially phrases - 2 words that are put together to form a word) that don't have exact translation in English. This is one of those books that reading it in original text is worth it because the author is very descriptive. I translated some excerpts in the Discussion section.

I am amazed that the drama follows the book's slow pace in the first 4 episodes. I was expecting less development of the CSS's family. The first 20+chapters are boring so I thought they would just sum it up quickly, but they did drag it out a bit in slow motion. This will discourage some people who are used to quick-paced dramas.

For those who expect a quick meeting of the main leads and a fast-paced romance, this isn't the drama. They "meet" in episodes 5-6 at the lantern festival. It's going to take time for her to like him.

It's a slow beginning, but they did try to make it entertaining. I think it's worth giving it a chance to develop the narrative (which although slow, is well-acted and filmed). After episodes 5-6, it might change to a faster pace?

So far I really like the acting and funny moments (including the wordplay). It's a different type of drama. It feels like an artistic rendition rather than the typical C-dramas.

The 3rd trailer really shapes up an important theme of this drama: two people unloved and orphaned found each other. The loyalty (commitment to family revenge) vs Love theme is translating to the drama well. It looks like the drama mostly sticks to the book with the possible exception that the drama might pretty up the love story to show absolute loyalty like WRTW. I hope that it will not be too unrealistic.
But either way, the acting looks great!

This drama is divided into 2 parts. It will be a sad ending when the first part ends with him taking revenge and hurting her. In the 2nd part when he returns, they will work out their relationship and she forgives him.

Thank you. I hope that the seriousness of the novel is not lost in all the comedy ... WRTHW was not adapted well because of all the politics and trite palace drama in the script. The director didn't do a good job there because the transitions are very abrupt between comedy and serious parts. Some of the chemistry is lost in translation because of these funny moments ... this is the fault of the script, editor, and director.

This work is something like Pride and Prejudice (except with a more serious plot). The right script and director can give the right balance between comedy, romance, and serious issues. I doubt if a man understands all the nuances ... that's why in Wonder Woman, they hire a female director!

Everyone has an opinion/taste. Mainland Chinese has different taste (I don't base my judgment on their opinions) ... as I posted earlier, WRTW is a different genre ... The script is more like an idol drama. I read the novel - it is different but still sounds unrealistic glorifying the female lead (it is a trend now that females are empowered ... a good thing for these drama companies because a lot of people watching are females!) The script is written one dimensional. The novel is a little better.
