also, she did apologize and offer an explanation in episode 16 (she tells chen maidong that she was afraid and freaked out, that this was wrong of her and that she was sorry), maybe try watching the episode if you still want to give the drama a chance
or drop if you feel its beyond redemption, thats fine too
true. well, there is room to grow and we still have time to find out whether he does :)
i thought it was nice bc it highlighted how, despite the years that had passed, he still hadnt "grown up" as zhuang jie put it. he is still as hotblooded as he was as a teen.
the heat index of the drama surpassed 27k today (30k+ is "a top drama" for tencent) and keeps rising as far as…
considering that tencent had been dropping dramas with high-traffic actors before WLIS aired, they obviously saw this drama more as a "filler", WLIS is really doing well with its performance considering this
I don’t interpret it as simple as a person vs a city. What she means is her life in the city, everything she’s…
yes, i do think that will definitely be a part of things she will consider more and more as the story progresses
though, tbh, kudos to her mom - she does not want to hold zhuang jie back and does not simply expect her to stay. she actually lets her daughter make the decision
How is this drama doing in China? I hope it’s really successful there!?? It’s so good
the heat index of the drama surpassed 27k today (30k+ is "a top drama" for tencent) and keeps rising as far as i can tell. they've been posting to celebrate it. i have been seeing some weibo trends too so i am assuming it is doing quite well in terms of popularity. especially since i think it was not expected to be a "top drama" compared to other recently airing shows.

adding to this: in an earlier episode she clearly stated that she loves who she is when she is in shanghai (when talking to her bestie). i think the most important aspect of this is that, when she is in shanghai, she feels free. not reduced to her disability and only judged by her competency.
during school, she suffered soo much bc she boxed herself in, reducing herself and what she can do bc of her leg. chen maidong was the one that inspired her change in perspective. the fruits of this change is her life in shanghai. it is purely hers.
leaving shanghai for chen maidong, she has to sacrifice /so much/. and that for something she isnt even sure would work out - their attraction might just be a spur of the moment thing (which we know it isnt bc this is a romance drama but zhuang jie obviously doesnt know). choosing chen maidong is a risk - one thats not easy to take, especially for a career women.
honestly? i enjoy that the drama actually has the guts for them not to have the answer yet. i love the grey space that they're in when nothing is defined yet. its so real
can someone please tell me: is the sound mixing this bad only for the youtube uploads? its so difficult to hear them speak over the way too loud bgm (whenever bgm plays) and its ruining the immersion
I am enjoying the show very much so far. I started watching it because I really liked the actor in Meet Yourself,…
her family cares - which makes sense considering her circumstances. her mother is a character but, especially when it comes to zhuang jie, only wants the best for her and (so far) never restricts zhuang jies agency. her mother only wants her to find someone who loves her for who she is. they talk to each other. her siblings meddle a little and are invested in her relationship but its never overbearing and only goes as far as coming to zhuang jies room to talk about stuff they heard- honestly, it just highlights how well they get along and how much they care. it just makes the sibling relationship more real and is not annoying.
Gotta say, I'm super impressed by how tasteful and understated this drama is in every aspect, including of course…
what really hit home for me personally was when the young chen mai dong was watching zhuang jie leave and i was hit with the realization that, in chen mai dongs view "everyone leaves" and that he understands he is "not enough" to make someone stay which makes soooo much sense considering his family situation
my heart broke
i love how they communicate so much without saying much. its like you can tell that zhuang jie, despite her cheerful appearance, still harbors the deep sadness that she openly showed as a teenager. now, as an adult, she is just better at hiding it
its a more mature type of drama that covers sensitive topics and adult responsibilities without being overbearing and mixed with very charismatic main leads with high chemistry. social relationships feel very real - not only between the main couple but also the surrounding character which gives everything a sense of freshness. honestly, the drama is worth a watch just for the fl alone, she is just such an inspiration. the characters have depth and are extremely well executed. this is well on the road to be a 10 star rating for me

they feel mutual attraction. both want. zhuang jie is not sure whether she wants to upend her entire life for a man - which makes sense ?!?
