Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
OMG that is not even my question at all.
I am asking what I thought was very clear : Why didn't Xiangliu choose life instead, esp now that we saw Hong jiang wavering. All along we thought he was the one leading everyone along, and Xiangliu followed him out of loyalty and 'duty'.
But now, we saw its not the case.
ps: I think anyone can tell the 'love' Xiaoyao has for XL is for a friend by now.
Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
See when I read the novel, I saw that his foster father was the one leading everyone onwards for their glory or whatever... But in the drama, they even took that away from Hong jiang. Hong jiang actually questioned himself and their purpose, and it was XL who seemed bent on continuing... hence my question in the first place.
Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
What question are you talking about? I feel like I said so much all you do is repeating yourself in short paragraph... Did you even answer my questions?
Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
But when you say XL needs a happy ending but it can only be with XY, aren't you also defining his life purpose is to live for/with Xiaoyao? Why can't XL live for himself? That is my question.
XL clearly had a desire to live life. He was enjoying his life as Fangfeng Bei. He was not just staying in the army camp all the time. Sure he moved around getting information as well... XL is that kind who can shoot multiple goals with one arrow.
I had also thought that its possible Xiangliu made helping these soldiers his life purpose and as you said, he was ready to go down with their ship when they all failed. Everything XL did, including making use of Xiaoyao to destabilize the central plains, for the sake of his army to have even a little chance to win. He didn't just sit around waiting for death, he did his very best to change their fate, because he chose them long ago.
But right now in S2, they really put too many moments for me to accept why their ship is even steered towards the rocks when everyone is basically screaming at them to turn back.
And why do they think their ancestors would want them to die? What about the Chenrong royalty themselves who chose surrender and a time of peace? Do you think they plan to head into death being ashamed of how they chose to live? If all the Chenrong clans can live with it, why was it too late for these men?
I think I would have been more convinced if Hong jiang was not shown to be wavering in his decision.
Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
XL won't have a 'happy ending with XY' because she don't love him, but yes actually if the Chenrong army found new purpose in life rather than all choosing death... I would have preferred that.
As for them 'giving their all' was just to involve more innocent people to die while they had chosen to die, that's all.
Can you really understand what it is they are fighting for? I see people commenting on other characters not being able to let go of their past, carrying their own emotional baggage, but when it comes to a group of soldiers, its all fine?
Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me…
Tushan Jing didn't kill himself outright, he went into a coma out of grief. And the Tushan clan did not fall, he was really dispensable and he knew it.
Xiangliu on the other hand, looked like he wanted to live, yet he was living like he was ready to die. This 'duty' you talking about, is to join a group of men to die.
This glorifying a group death for 'honor' which was not even just dying on their own but dragging as many other men with them as they can...
Jing never wanted to heal, he chose to remain a cripple, because he had no identity left. He is just shiqi, XY's…
That was not what the novel said lol
""My body, my voice... do you know why, even though I know my leg can be healed, I refuse treatment? Because I know that even if it's healed, the real wounds are still inside my body, and no medicine can cure that.
I can put on clothes to cover the ugly scars on my body, I can use rare medicines to heal my leg, and I can speak as little as possible to hide my unpleasant voice. I can deceive everyone into thinking I am still the distinguished and outstanding young master of Qingqiu, but I can't deceive myself... "
Its not that he didn't want to become Jing again he was aware his own wounds are deeper, he didn't seek revenge did not mean he already let go of the hurt and betrayal, of what had happened to him. He just didn't see revenge as a way to heal himself and he saw it as a path that will doom him to become a real victim.
His love for Xiaoyao was going to heal him, that's why he cannot give her up. " His kiss landed on the blush on Xiao Yao's forehead, as if a fire ignited there, warming his cold heart.
Perhaps one day, even those wounds hidden deep within his body, beyond any medicine's reach, might heal."
And Xiaoyao never pitied him. Jing thought she had pity for him, but she did not. This was one of the misunderstandings that made him insecure earlier on. Only after he heard that she did not pity him, that's why he kissed her later on.
Xiaoyao was the only one who never saw his disabilities - she could not understand why Fangfeng Yiying would not like what she liked, because to her, she never saw Jing as a cripple or a damaged man.
The more S2 kept showing how Cangxuan and the Yellow Emperor, sending so many different envoys to talk the Chenrong…
Actually let me share what the differences between TSJ and Xiangliu's 'giving up on life' to me, that made me really unable to understand XL.
For TSJ, the shock of losing the love of his life was so great, he had the bluescreen of death, and jing.exe failed to run... He didn't look at one last supermoon, he didn't eat one more piece of meat, or drink one more bottle of wine...
But Xiangliu's path really confounds me... the same guy who told Wen Xiaoliu that 'life is precious as long as we can enjoy such views' which I understand as 'as long as there is such beauty in the world, life is worth living.' Why didn't this apply to himself? Why didn't this apply to the rest of Chenrong's army?
Yet this same guy along the way, knows he is headed for certain death. Its a slowed down path, but he seemed like he was ready for that outcome.
So we see him busy living his life ticking his bucket list:
'taking care of someone else's mother so he can see what it feels like to have a mother' 'being loyal to the stubborn goal of a 'father' figure' 'hanging out with someone he likes so he can feel what it is to be in love'
I agree that the drama has added some new scenes (ones that are not in the novel) that make XL and TSJ seem like…
I think he only did that after Xiaoyao drew boundary with him and won't let him take blood from her neck. And after yaojing was very much an item after their staycation in Chenrong mansion, he really tried to scare her off many times, but more for his own sake instead of hers. Its like he was afraid if she was any nicer to him, he might falter.
Before that, as Fangfeng Bei, he definitely tried many times to make Xiaoyao 'choose' him over Jing. He was clearly upset when she went back to Jing instead of leaving to 'have fun' with him.
In the maze, he leaned in to whisper to Xiaoyao when he knows Jing is there, and he even tried to get her to injure him with her own hands.
And at the weapons shop when they buying a new bow, XL tried to look close to her by putting his arm around her. "意映好笑地看着几乎半搂着小夭的邶" But when Xiaoyao used him to make Jing jealous, XL really minded that. He felt like he lost that one.
Even after they broke up, at Cangxuan's wedding, he would still pull Xiaoyao closer like he was throwing that in Jing's face. This one seemed to be drama only, since Jing was not the one to see her leaving with Bei.
Call it what it is. Xiangliu did try to win Xiaoyao before. He just failed and so he later bowed out.
The more S2 kept showing how Cangxuan and the Yellow Emperor, sending so many different envoys to talk the Chenrong 'rebel army' to stand down and stop their pointless fighting, the less I am convinced about just what it is they are really fighting for? ( Don't get mad at me for calling them rebels now, even Xiangliu called himself 'rebel general' ) They don't even have a country nor people to defend. They are literally just fighting for the sake of fighting.
Especially when they showed Hong Jiang to also be wavering and wondering about his life choice. Yet for some reason, Xiangliu, who is not born of Chenrong, has no real roots there, never been in the final battle before Chenrong fell, turned out to be the one who is 'unshakable' and determined to steer this entire group of men over the cliff of doom.
We see Fenglong's father, who is equivalent to being the 'king' of Chenrong if the country still existed... being sent there with so much respect for these men to ask them to choose peace... yet, for some reason, they still want to 'remember their fallen comrades and join them in glorious death on the battle field.'
When Tushan Jing lost his will to live after Xiaoyao died, so many people mocked him and called him weak.
Yet these same people are praising Xiangliu for his own 'selfless' suicidal tendencies for a cause he adopted - Chenrong's war was never his war. Its not out of love for a country. Its some 'loyalty' to the people who already died. Will their deaths and the deaths of the Xiyan soldiers who will meet them in final battle bring them back? No.
Can you tell me what is the difference of both acts? When these men chose to follow their comrades in death? How is their life choice to die, when everyone else around them is trying to get them to go for peace, somehow grander than the life choices of others?
If what is left of the army laid down their arms, settled down somewhere and led a peaceful life doing farming like grandpa, growing food or medicines for people who needed them... would it be a 'grander' thing to do?
Or are they just a group of lost souls, who had seen too much, felt too much and actually they just want to die as a way 'out' so they can 'find peace' at last?
Living is difficult, dying is easy. Even the soldier said as much, dying is just cutting off one's head.
So I am really unable to comprehend what is so selfless about choosing death for all their soldiers and dying with them.
CX was the first one in XY's heart before Jing and XL came along. He was everything to her. During her hardest…
No actually in the drama dialogue you notice she never answered Cangxuan's question. He asked her who she would choose between him and Jing, but she said, if the Tushan family ever goes against you, I will definitely side with you. She said that because she knows Jing would never put her in that kind of position to choose.
I find that throughout the novel or drama, Xiaoyao has somehow instinctively hidden how much she likes/loves Jing to CX. She was sad whenever she had to part with Jing, but she would always downplay her emotions in front of CX. So much so that CX never realized how deep her feelings were, and was incredulous that she would kill him because of TSJ.
She could not hide from Xiangliu who could feel her feelings for Jing.
I agree that the drama has added some new scenes (ones that are not in the novel) that make XL and TSJ seem like…
I did see that exception to let Jing hear their conversation as his taunting TSJ as well.
Xiangliu is not a nice guy, he had always had this mean streak, which was fine and part of his character as a proud demon. I understand when he has his moments to want to annoy Jing whenever he can.
Like every time he noticed Jing being nearby he will try to pull Xiaoyao closer to him, to make him upset/jealous? Yet he knows he won't end up being the one with Xiaoyao but he can't help himself I guess.
XL doesn't care for Jing. He simply saved Jing for XY because it is what she wanted. XL is too proud, caustic,…
In the novel Xiangliu 'saved' Jing 'for' Xiaoyao but he also made use of Xiaoyao's grief to help him destabilize the Central plains. He watched and felt the 'love of his life' struggle with her heartache over her loss for 6-7 years, before the war finally reached a point of no return, which was when he finally gave in and 'sent him back'.
"XL is too proud, caustic, and shrewd. " Yes this line I agree completely.
I can't believe why so many people chose to gloss over this final cruel act towards Xiaoyao and pretend that Xiangliu's love is so grand and 'selfless' and said he was never jealous over yaojing.
But didn't TJ hurt her already?Anyway why not start sorting out her abandonment issues instead and just go up…
Actually I have never seen her wipe his mouth when he was no longer her patient or sick, but if you have to say who is more maternal, Shiqi was definitely the one LOL He tucks her in, hands her hanky to wipe all the time...
I am still glad she managed to go home and resolve all her her emotional baggage even if it came with some epic growing pains.
If that day Xiangliu got to her instead, and she never goes home and forever roams the world as Wen Xiaoliu. But her wounds would still be left unattended. She may have what looked like carefree life, living day to day tending goats, raising orphans, but she would still feel lonely. As you can see, she cared for her temporary 'short term' family but Xiaoliu was never one to be fully happy with them - her loneliness was eating her inside. How can she not be when she cannot even 'find herself'.
The period she went home had painful moments, but overall, I think she finally managed to resolve most of the things that was important to her.
She literally found her real face. She finally made peace with her birth secret. She helped CX ascend to the throne and be safe. She even managed to spearhead a great Medical project that would benefit the entire world.
Xiaoyao is competitive by nature. Look at how she won't let CX win when they were children. She was also the best out of their circle of children with spirit power cultivation. She was also on the path to great things. If she never came back to do all those things, I think she was going to live a life filled with regrets, even if she was 'happy' day to day.
I would think Jing has XL's endorsement to be the one for XY since XL himself cannot be with XY. 🐍👍🏻👌🏻🦊Otherwise,…
That part in the drama was added and yeah its really lame. What else can we expect from a drama group who seems to fixate on making Jing look bad only?
I agree that Jing actually didn't expect XY to go to him at all. He just wanted the wedding stopped. He thought XL will hide her in his camp where she can't be found. And after everything blows over, she can then go home.
I would think Jing has XL's endorsement to be the one for XY since XL himself cannot be with XY. 🐍👍🏻👌🏻🦊Otherwise,…
The gambling den was a place Jing rents to his friend. Its not run by him. And as a victim of a slave gambling ring, I don't see XL himself becoming some kind of advocate to stop the slave MMA? He and Xiaoyao even bets on who will live and who will die? Doesn't that make XL even worse? He was someone who experienced that same life but now he can profit from it?
Honestly in the drama when Jingye questioned why the army won't just give up, and Jing wrote those words, I am still not convinced either. The drama really failed to convince WHY they are doing what they doing.
