I would think Jing has XL's endorsement to be the one for XY since XL himself cannot be with XY. 🐍👍🏻👌🏻🦊Otherwise,…
'Noble idiot' trope is so over.
This is the main reason I can never fully emphasize with XL's so called 'love'. Especially in the drama version.
He is shown to be soooo torn and moping over XY but still in the end he still chose to 'outsource the care' for the person he loved so much.
If you claim to love someone that much, then take care of that person yourself. Don't 'entrust' her to another.

It does make sense if XL knows he is not the one Xiaoyao truly wants.
At least he chose to respect XY's choice unlike Cangxuan, who is operating on the 'I know what's best for you' mindset.

XL just can't choose XY over his own 'grand thing'. He can't make her his number 1 either. So he bowed out. But if he ever thought XY loved him and he still can't choose her instead, then he is no Chichen.

Jing never wanted to heal, he chose to remain a cripple, because he had no identity left. He is just shiqi, XY's…
I thought you said you read the novel? He clearly wanted to heal but he knew what is inside is the one that is important, not what is outside on the surface...
Check out his inner thoughts on the beach again when Xiaoyao gave him her first kiss. Or did you maybe skip it because its not a part you want to see?

Just want to add to what some viewers psychoanalyzing Xiaoyao and Tushan Jing... suggesting it would be 'healthier' for them to heal on their own first...

In the novel and drama, 赖 is the word they used often, it is not a negative word since the context here is rely on, depend on.

Both the characters are damaged in their own way, both seeking to heal and they found each other.
From what I understand TH is trying to say, these two are depending on each other on the rocky road of life, healing each other, helping each other along. Its not even a one-sided thing where one person is only taking from the other, but both of them are giving and taking, supporting each other. So what is so negative about that?

Why go it alone when you can have someone who understands you and loves you build up a life together? Its should not be a shameful thing to count on another person on a path of healing.

So why be so angry and bitter about a beautiful thing?
Don't cheapen Xiaoyao's decision as 'forced' when she bravely made her own choice to overcome her own insecurities, to place her trust in another. That step she took was a big deal. Its not 'small character growth', its a defining moment.

But didn't TJ hurt her already?Anyway why not start sorting out her abandonment issues instead and just go up…
I watched enough rom com to tell this is a usual trope and its called
'The exception to the rule' : That special one

Xiaoyao breaking her rules over her man does not have come from a maternal place lol in fact I never once get the feeling what she has for Jing is ever maternal.. she actually exhibits what Cangxuan had for her, a degree of possessiveness, a great deal of jealousy, wanting to make Jing jealous, basically to get a reaction out of him so she is convinced she mattered to him because she is quite insecure too...

I understand what you mean but I think its the fault of the drama which cannot show us the extent of Xiaoyao's loneliness. She had new family and friends like Xinyue ( before she turned into a raving bitch ) and Ah Nian... but she never felt like she belonged with them.

Being the princess, her new 'friends' might not be sincere and usually are after something by associating with her. She already has issues trusting people from back when her real status was unknown, I doubt she can suddenly trust strangers in her life just to connect with new people. Also after the reveal of her birth secret, cangxuan pretty much killed any hopes she could get new sincere friends, unless she goes completely incognito... but using a fake identity to make new friends, isn't that also very sad and hardly being 'real' anyway.

Fenglong had a line that was removed from drama when he was talking to Jing in the army camp, he said, 'Before Xiaoyao was a treasure that everyone wanted, now she is just a big bundle of trouble."

So its sad for Xiaoyao but it was never going to be easy for her to start afresh as you suggested.

I see a theme building over the last 2 days here in this comment section of people who ship XY with their favorite…
Is it because they finally cannot deny that XY's 'true love' is their fav? hahahah

I noticed everyone in drama and in the novel only says that the couple bug can be planted in the man who loves the woman... it is never defined as both must be 'in love' with the other
Even in the novel XY won't believe that XL managed to take the bug because he loves her...she was so dismissive of that..

me too! pretty interesting to hear her perspective!
In the novel it was more obvious because she had to go through more events like surviving two more assassination attempts before reaching this part...we also had more time to see how she was grieving... when she talked about Jing to others...
Drama really.... i have no words...

They skipped a lot of important scenes from the novel. Empress trying to kill XY twice which eventually lead to…
In the novel it was almost 6 years after Jing goes missing to that point ... but in the drama it took like...6 seconds lol

Right?? I am sure no matter where they travel, they will still continue to do good in their own 'small' way...

So many here want to downplay Xiaoyao's feelings for TSJ, saying she chose him because he 'met her requirements'.

As you have said, if she was only looking for a perfect quiet life, why not move on and look for someone new?

Its because Xiaoyao actually loves TSJ, she has since they were back in Qingshui town. Its just the feelings got stronger over the decades...
He is not just some disposable item that she needs at one point and can discard when he is no longer 'any use'. That is the difference.

He is the one she can break her own 'rules' for. She decided her happiness lies with him and she is willing to remain lonely just to not forget him. Isn't that overcoming her abandonment issues? To be fine with being alone?

If Xiaoyao just moved on to someone new, won't you say she is still being reliant on the company of another new man, and have not actually grown out of her need to be 'with' anyone?

Funny how people keep telling Xiaoyao her 'purpose'...
just let the girl live the way she wants.. Why is it awful if she just wants to settle down and have a family...

Xiaoyao is not 'losing herself' just because she chose to be with Tushan Jing, she is completing herself, healing the parts that is damaged and becoming a happier, better person for it.

TH has emphasized that being a wife is not something to be looked down upon...

sigh.... well even if the drama production didn't love TSJ, the public sure did!

yes we know it was all filmed as one and the rule didn’t even exist when they filmed. I think what some of us…
They are also blatantly obvious in the treatment of how they adapted the characters... when a certain someone appeared suddenly in ep17 I literally burst out laughing

Thank you for your comments. All 3 men love her deeply but with different intentions. As much as I also love XL,…
I actually disagree with Cangxuan's propaganda...
I still don't agree that he needed to attack Haoling the way he did. And later when he finally talked with his teacher, he actually felt stupid too... because his mentor already was grooming him as his heir... but he just went ahead to strike first...
People did die for this haoling war, its not as bloodless as they tried to downplay the damage...
It doesn't mean that one country will not have war, it just means the entire world is under one ruler, and who knows in future what kind of ruler that will be which may cause pain and suffering to the masses... I don't buy this 'unification' msg at all.. CX was just doing it for ambition and secretly I think he wants the world to be his so there is nowhere Xiaoyao can 'run' away from him... he said as much on the swing... so creepy and ominous..

That fight needed some better CGI and moves.
in the novel at least the fight lasted longer than 5 minutes... its just so painful to see when they don't give the fair screen time or CG support to characters and steal other characters moments to give to others hahahha

I was like...oooops they even take from Xiaoyao's scenes now ( the heartache scene where she collapses ) hahahahahaha

And CX forgets that he didn't protect her either when she needed it the most. Plus all those times he injured…
Not forgetting how he was willing to hurt her by revealing her biggest (birth) secret to the world so he can further his ambitions... People keep saying he made big sacrifces but I really don't see the Haoling war as necessary at all...

Jing does it to protect XY of XL? I totally disagree. "Seeing Xiao Yao going to chase after Xiang Liu, Jing couldn’t…
XL was just being manipulative, nothing romantic about XY trying to follow him into the sea, be it from the beach or from the boat.

Every time XL gets Xiaoyao to do something, he makes it sound like a dare... and XY falls for it every single time. "Do you dare to" - and XY and her competitive nature will definitely do it. He did it with archery, 'Do you dare to learn from me" to "Do you dare to find Jing to ask him why"

And yes Jing was protecting XY from XL most of the time. And we have actual evidence that XY is pleased that he looks for her because to her, that means he cares enough about her.

From TSJ's POV, XL is still an uncertain figure. There is no trust there, just a basic respect for each other. He won't know when XL wanted to keep XY as hostage to save his army or not as the war is coming... the characters don't possess the knowledge that audience have about each different characters.
