That being said I also really like Xue Ranran's character as well! She is like a new slate but she is still herself? Not exactly blank slate. Her thoughts, decisions, actions are still MQG, just without the burden of the memories of the past. So we get to see them learn to love properly this time, because their past is really so complicated and messy.
I think Su Yishui is such an interesting and layered character! He is so wonderfully conflicted, always struggling with himself. In the novel we see the story from Ranran's pov, so mostly we only see him being cold or aloof but this guy got so many emotions churning below that calm façade I am surprised he didn't end up with a stomach ulcer hahaha
