I think TJ and KG already did something similar to an 'angry kiss'. It's the gym scene in ep 2. TJ got angry with KG when KG joked about stop being his bodyguard, so then TJ 'ordered' KG to spar that day. That sparring scene, at least to me, resembles a sex or bed scene. I have the same views as yours, that KG appears to not side with, rebel, or disobey THJ, it's not simply jealousy or so. It's more KG is taking control of their relationship. And that KG is waiting for THJ to give him some signs as to where their relationship will go.
I do have some additional thoughts though. I think when THJ said his shadow is starting to have awareness, he meant KG will be asking him a question (or for a signal as you put it). And THJ knows he will have to give KG an answer. I got this idea from in the beginning of ep 4 when THJ was thinking to himself. (in the eng sub, they used the word 'answer' as the translation)
My theory is, they both know KG will ask one of two questions: 1) "I love you beyond a master-servant relation, do you love me as a lover also?" or 2) "If I want to leave, will you let me go?". And my theory is they both know THJ's answer will be "yes" to both questions.
In the scenes in the restaurant where KG had his date with HM: when KG told HM he wanted to like her and thanked her for asking for his number, I read it as KG asking THJ the second question. And when THJ reacted by going up to KG, I read it as THJ saying 'you asked the wrong question'.
In the end, in the scene when THJ enters the car saying to KG "just keep the master-servant relationship like you said", I read it as THJ giving his answer to KG's question meaning "I'll let you go since you said you want to go".
When KG held the car door stopping THJ from closing it, I think he was feeling both sad and happy. Sad that he hurt THJ , but happy that THJ loves him enough to let him go. Remember in the ep2, THJ would not even let KG joke about not being his bodyguard. THJ cannot or will let THJ be away from him.
There's an earlier scene back in the restaurant when KG told THJ "I will come back after taking HM home". I really like those words. It's like he's saying to THJ that it's ok to let him leave because he promises he'll always return. Because he chooses to return to THJ, instead of just returning because he's being ordered to. I think this is significant in that KG knows THJ is very sensitive to the idea of loosing him, so he is reassuring THJ by this promise.
I'm hoping that scene is the point of the the story in the end, that KG will never disappear from THJ even if there're some minor temperary seperations.

My thoughts about the girl HM, just my personal views, is that HTJ used her as his pretext to be with KG together in this 'dating project', where KG needs him, and where the two will spend time and share secrets advises with each other. HTJ's rhetoric was that he had experiences with females but KG didn't, hence he will 'coach' KG.
It's kind of like how THJ used his injured arm as pretext to ask KG to wash his hair, to cook for him the next day, etc. He also continued wearing the cast even after it's healed so KG doesn't stop paying special attention to him.
I also think THJ encouraged KG to date the girl so KG will reject it once again like the previous few times (giving fake number, not answering her during the sparring). I think THJ makes up these 'tests' for KG so KG will reassure him that he'll never leave him. THJ is very sensitive to the idea of loosing KG. He gets upset when KG jokes about not being his bodyguard.
However, unlike what THJ was expecting and hoping, at least up to ep4, KG did meet HM on a date, plus their roles did not turn out to be how THJ wanted. THJ was not needed by KG to date HM. KG explained their relationship as 'master-slave' to HM, instead of a more intimate relationship where KG needs THJ and they would share secrects.

I think both HTJ and KG know they love each other. In the end of ep 3, it seemed to me HTJ 'confessed' his feelings to KG by after subtly pointing out to KG that he knows KG has feelings for him. Then KG responded that he knows HTJ loves him, told/begged him not to confess again, because they both know that they don't like the fact that they love each other (perhaps due to social status differences, perhaps they want themselves to live as straight men, perhaps due to the father, etc, I'm not sure).

I saw in an interview before and HGC talked about the relationship development of HTJ and KG. However, I can't find that video anymore. But what he basically said was the 'master-servant' relationship gets flipped over in the end. So I'm guessing we'll see KG as the 'leader/master/dominant' one in the end. I actually don't mind what role they play within their ship, I just hope it won't be a sad ending. I don't think I can handle that. Really hoping for a happy ending.
tbh, I'm not sure why WYEL is advertized as Korea's first bl series. Korea had a bunch dramas and movies that have gay relations, gay charactors, or bromance. Series like 'long time no see', one couple of 'the lover', bromance of 'the boy next door', etc. Movies like 'methods', 'as if you whisper' , 'queer movie beautiful', 'summer daze', 'in between seasons', 'steps for you', etc. may be BL is considered a different genre from Gay or Bromance ?
