Amazing! Sure there were a few scenes that dragged because the dialogue was about the intrigues that had nothing to do with the main characters. Overall though, decent fight scenes, fantastic acting and a beautiful OST. I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with LMH all over again.
Hu Yi Tian and Zhang Yun Long have amazing on screen chemistry. Their character dynamic is a bit different from Poirot and Hastings, but better suited to this setting. The fujoshi in me wants to see them as more than friends, but they still have that zing that keeps their story moving for me. This series seems to stitch some of the more popular Christie stories together with a Republic era China twist that seems to work. The pacing is a bit off and doesn't click well with the timing of the episodes though. It's something I've noticed in many recent C-dramas also.
I made it through three episodes for Zhao Yi Qin. He deserves better shows with better FL. I couldn't continue watching the FL though. Her character is bad. Her acting is too much camp. The slo-mo scenes of her being a Jar Jar Jinx are painful to watch.
This show has it all for a classic night drama. However, Ahn Jae Wook, So Yoo Jin and Sung Hoon really carried the show. It has a stellar cast including the children though. The story is messy but straight forward.
