This is a phenomenal piece of work for something as short as it is. The acting tells the story as much as the music. The costumes and sets are stunning. The story has a lot happening with multiple twists and nuanced moments that foreshadow later important scenes. This is not a typical Chinese historical setting drama found these days in that the audience is never going to be completely satisfied with how things happen in the story.
I'm glad they wrapped up the character stories. However, this could've been eight episodes and done. So much of it dragged. The acting is better. There's still zero chemistry between Dun and Bas though. Bank and Pon had more chemistry, and they stayed only friends. This season was a disappointment compared to how well the first season went.
This is way too convoluted for its own good., I like all the characters based on what we get of them. However, there's not enough time to figure them all out and their relationships to the main storyline. I don't like the second couple/love quadrangle-quintangle. It's a trapezoid with polygonic proportions. If you don't know what that means, then there's no way to figure out that relationship cluster fuhq. N'Phai is the only character I find worth saving and protecting. He's selfless and giving with a kind and positive heart... which of course will be trampled upon due to his naivety. I binge watched this season over a long weekend. I wrote character flow charts to figure out everyone's relationship to everyone else. I made notes. I'm mentally tired now.
The story is pedestrian in its plot and telling. The leads are hardly memorable except for a few scenes where you feel sorry for them or hate them. I finished it mostly to see how they get themselves out of the messes they create for themselves.
Before I started watching this drama, I went through the comments and many of them said that there were "no misunderstandings"…
I'd say that the biggest misunderstanding is in the first episode between her dress, shoes, purse, earrings and that stupid oversized plush doll attached to her purse.
I'm not usually a fan of web dramas because they tend to be to short or the acting would be unbearable, but I…
Thank you! I'm relieved I'm not the only one who noticed the lack of a chest scar from the heart transplant surgery. Don't get me wrong; I L♥VE the numerous shirtless scenes Moon Bin has in the show. I just can't get past the lack of any scar on his chest.
