This is the worst long-running drama I've seen from SBS usually they are serviceable, no wonder they canceled the time slot. It's really unfortunate that Choi Jung Yoon came back from 7 years hiatus for this awful project. This is one of the most brainsmooth stories in kdrama I've seen, absolutely mind numbing. This is the writer's first drama and it's showing big time. Amateur writing, cheap production, bad stylists and horrendous cast performance. There are kids shows better written than this, it's hard to believe a human wrote this. A production value from 20 years ago, awful lighting and sound design. These stylists need to be fired, look at the characters faces, a thick mask of whatever make up they have is about to fall off. Finally the cast, which consists of 85% of unknowns who can't act and are always awkward. For the same reason, the few side stories we had were uninteresting and lacked and characterization. I think what contributed to the death of this drama the most is the lack of familiar faces, the size of the cast and the side stories.
Misleading poster, the redhead was only there for the first 25 episodes then turned to brunette/dark.
Great performance by Son Ye Jin and Ji Jin Hee, especially Ye Jin who showed visible character development from start to end by her acting. While the remainder of the cast were average at best. Jo Yoon Hee and Jin Goo barely have any screen time or meaningful contribution why are they listed as main characters in the first place? The story was average and even below average at times, the cases they dealt with didn't have a dramatic impact, they all felt too casual even the last "big" case. The writing/script doesn't have a good flow, for example some events/plot elements were neglected for too long before coming back to them, also too many filler characters that don't fill a good character spot considering the theme of the drama. The ending was underwhelming, they had a 4 episodes build up and what we got at the end just two guys on live news backstabbing each other.
The synopsis written here is wrong, it's only relevant to the last 3 episodes concerning Tae Suk's father. The story revolves around Woo Jin starting from the bottom and getting to be an anchorwoman for 9 PM news.
I keep forgetting how small and tiny Han Ji Min is lol. For a spy drama it's kinda disappointing, no guns were used until the last few scenes. There's only one major case, no other small cases. The action was brief and passable. You could say this is a slice of life/comedy in a spy setting. Speaking of which, the goofiness was great for the first 6 episodes then it started to get too much in your face and left you wanting something more. Other than a handful of funny and ridiculous moments, this drama had nothing else to offer. Still serviceable tho.
You may think it's a medical drama like any other medical one but it leans heavily on the business/political aspect while being in a hospital setting. So don't expect the typical medical formula of patients/cases every few episodes.
There was a scene where every single doctor and personal in the hospital gathering to watch one operation, who's running the hospital then? The drama failed to keep hold of my attention since it didn't have any interesting elements other than the male lead being a semi bad guy. Some plot lines left unfinished or untouched like the infidelity one. The ending and the last two episodes felt forced to provoke some emotions and leave a stronger lasting impression by the viewers since all the prior episodes were lacking.
The drama had one of the weakest performances I've seen from Lee Sun Kyun. Keep in mind if you wanted to watch it that the remaster version, although it looks slightly better, it chops off scenes from every single episode.
I loved the beginning, piece of shit materialistic female lead and dumb as a brick male lead, they might have been onto something but alas they weren't. Too draggy and uneventful, the plot is so short and thin that they resulted to turning the last 4 episodes into business fluff. Not much chemistry or romance between any of the 4 leads either.
They fully advertise PlayStation with its logo and brand name but they can't name the company Sony so they went with Suny.
This drama will piss off MDL users for sure. The wife portrayed as a messy "Ajumma" who only take care of her kids and house but not herself or husband. They pushed the narrative too hard to make her the "problem" as to why her husband cheated.
They also kept forcing the viewers to sympathize with the husband and his mistress with how they told their story. The husband, according to him, never knew what love is for 20-years. The mistress, after a painful breakup and her mother's death, she had no one left for her and was in a desperate need for someone to lean on. Both the husband and his mistress were given a lot of scenes every episode and almost were treated as the "first" main leads. The drama even followed their story up until the very end to show a happy ending. They had it pretty easy for them. The wife saw her husband so sickly in love with his mistress, physically and mentally, so she agreed on the divorce. The wife didn't even had a single adult talk/confrontation scene with the mistress, how?!
The writing sucks and the story is a huge mess but the cast was fine. Don't expect romance except for the brief moments with the mistress at the start and the last 5 minutes for the female lead.
Watching all of the leads from 1999 was joyful, they barely aged and they are just as good as they are now. Jang Hyuk was absolutely charming with the 90's swag. The drama had its problems but the "scuffability" only adds to its charm. The good old times back then when smoking wasn't censored. Although there's some drag and too many sad b-rolls but I wanted to see a couple more scenes of the ending. This is when K-drama had a life crises before forming its new-age independent identity, you can feel it at times trying to branch out to western influence. Give it a shot.
This drama feels like a bridge between old and modern, following the old formula of cliches from mid 90's to early 00's while having a modern direction. The first episode was weak, lacks interesting elements to hook the viewers. On the other hand, I wanted more of the ending, given the nature of the drama, it needed a bit of a breather with the situation at hand. For the same reason, it also lacked "extra" affection around the ending. They often give too much focus to Soo Jin that makes Young In appear like a side character. The story is fine but it's clearly unpolished and lacks a clearer direction. Strangely enough, Ahn Jae Wook looks older even though it's 2006 drama.
Although it's from 2007 but it feels even older for some reason, regardless, crime drama from that era all do lean heavily on the drama aspect over crime/action/thriller aspects. All the cases were personal and connected to the characters which some of them also were connected to the main big case. The romance was quick and brief, I miss Go Hyun Jung older roles prior to 2010, I feel they were better than whatever she is doing now.
Young Du was the worst case/plot line, about 4 episodes wasted on his lame boring-ass pity face. On the other hand, I love when Ma Dong Seok start flipping tables. The main villain lacked proper building and depth, they just gave him a generic mentally ill/psycho personality, they often do that a lot from that era. Although it's a crime drama but the police force/H.I.T was often an embarrassment.
- Dal Hee/Sera Park, Miss Lee and Tae Soo all were alive and barely punished at the end but Se Kyung is dead.…
They don't. For some weird reason the love interest change to Se Joon in the last few episodes. There was never a romantic build up between Se Joon and Hari other than Se Joon constantly harassing her like a child. Suddenly, after the ending time skip of 6 years they meet at a book signing event and go to grab a meal.
Well, it's obvious for everyone that Do Jin Woo is the worst part about this drama, every second Jin Woo appeared…
It's daylight robbery for what they did to Tae Rang and Seol Ah. It simply doesn't make sense for Seol Ah to get back to her ex-husband. The writer seems to be too infatuated with the idea of forcing wives and cheating ex-husbands to get back together rather than moving on throughout a handful of her previous writing projects.
Well, it's obvious for everyone that Do Jin Woo is the worst part about this drama, every second Jin Woo appeared on screen it felt revolting. In fact, you may include Jin Woo and Seol Ah plot line as a whole in general. I highly doubt anyway would like Seol Ah ending. Looking at what the writer did to Jin Woo and Seol Ah plot line and looking at her previous works, I'm starting to see a pattern. Is it safe to assume it's a reflection of her own life?
It's not like the drama didn't have other problems. The drama was interesting for the first few episodes prior to the 9-years time skip, it gave off promising vibes with good build up then became utterly soulless, monotone and even got hit with a massive downgrade in overall quality. Maybe about 90% of the drama was uneventful, things kept going in circles with little to zero progression. The writing was straight up bad and inconsistent. Some parts you can notice the writer is trying to create some logic but most of the time the writer end up doing the exact opposite. Most of the side stories were weak due to the lack of investment in liking any character, since none of them stands out anyway. This also made the size of the cast feel smaller than it is.
The ending as well was flat, lukewarm and lacked a meaningful conclusion to any character. Chung Ah and Joon Hwi ending was too quick, while the other characters got a "whatever bs" kind of ending. It's really a shame what this drama ended up being since the beginning was too good, a massive bait and switch tactic.
If you can't stand single digit IQ characters then you should avoid this drama. 2.5/10
Keep in mind this is pure makjang, it was purposely made to trigger the viewers especially with Do Hyun (Soo In's husband) pathetic plot line which I see a lot of people complaining about it trying to defend Do Hyun, unrightfully though. Just like any other makjang the story kicks off with the classic move of incompetent authorities/justice system. Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better after that, it's infested with stupid characters and weak dialogue. Han Ji Hye didn't seem to be a good fit to play Soo In character by being too tame and soft spoken, she often shines more in other roles where she's vibrant, outspoken and bold. Soo In as a character lacked proper characterization and depth in the first place, she was written as a generic "very nice" girl, replacing her with any other actress wouldn't have had made a difference.
Something seems off about it especially with how it flows. Although it's called "lovers" but it's mostly melo with a hint of romance. Characters lack proper development for a story with this length. These 20 episodes feel so empty while recalling the major events. The whole last episode was unnecessarily too dramatic, could have been better to go for the tamer route. It's still watchable I guess.
This might be the worst performance I've seen from Kim Min Joon, barely acting and his crying face is too fake. I guess that's just the younger him still learning. Anyway, it's a typical medical with all the medical tropes you could think of. The love square was really unnecessary, making him and her jumping between partners this quickly was a weak point to the romance. The romance in general wasn't good either. Still watchable tho.
why? the main couple and second lead not together?it's a sad ending?
Jae Min and Mi Joo were together for the first 5 episodes and then broke up. That's the setup for the drama. Just because they once dated in the past, it created stupid problems for themselves and everyone else.
Which resulted in Jae Min and Ha-Kyeong not ending up together. Objectively, it's not sad ending but you get this lingering distasteful feeling from early parts of the drama you carry on with you till the end.
