Keeping Lee Soon Jae from season 1 is a plus. Jin Ji Hee was a little shit lol. There was some recycled jokes from season 1. Like the investigation/detective work scenes or the son who doesn't study have a sudden awakening of smartness and many more. Fart jokes were better in season 1. The comedy is a bit stale. Season 1 was significantly better, I gave S1 7.5 but this one I'm giving it 5 reluctantly.
As we were approaching the last 15 minutes I was starring at my screen waiting for the laughter track to play but it never did. What kind of hard core drugs was the director snorting as he was making the last episode? Absolute mockery! The director was truly determined to ruin the drama in any shape or form before it ends. The last few episodes were a big telling for the director losing his sanity. Don't watch it, go watch season 1.
Great comedy full of laughs and good time. Even though it's mid 2000s but the comedy still holds up to date. I wish there was a few more characters for some more variations. I was seriously fed up with Lee Min Yong relationships, it's the weakest and the longest plot line in the drama. Choose this girl or the other I don't care anymore. Too bad Seo Min Jung doesn't act in more dramas or movies, I wanted to see more of her. This was Park Min Young first acting role which interesting to see. Don't watch the old copy online, get it from Amazon Prime the quality is pretty good there.
I was absolutely desperate for the female lead to get back to her old job of being a homicide detective because that's the only thing that would make this drama a little tiny bit interesting in the drama's setting. They completely shelved off the female lead in the last 10 episodes and put her on hold, instead they redirect the attention to a weird uninteresting cycle of irrelevant events to the main story. Which resulted in making the last 10 episodes feel like a huge drag.
How would a writer escape once they are cornered? Introduce "terminal illness". With it, everything start to change magically. It doesn't matter whatever development/character the drama built up because all of that is irrelevant once the terminal illness is present. LAZY! Don't even get me started on the FL's journey to "forgiveness", absolutely laughable. The dynamic with FL and her in-laws was a big oof moment that was never resolved.
First half was full of students and the FL was doing exactly as described in the synopsis, then in the second half there was non of that and it became melo only. The same thing can be said about some character, for example, Jin Hee who had heavy screen-time just to completely disappear and never to be seen in the second half. The last two episodes were super artificial. Character who never given any attention suddenly got some like Gyeong Ah.
I enjoyed watching Kim Jung Eun & Lee Tae Ran, they are one of my favorite underrated actresses. The drama was fine, I guess. Anyway, serviceable 4.5/10 .
These are the absolute worst police officers in any drama out there. Society would collapse with officers like them. The story is too thin and mind numbing, the cast is small and the side stories are scarce. More screen-time was needed to the side characters especially Woo Ri. You can feel how limited and tight their budget is.
I swear these main leads behave like actual children. They all are too stiff, lack character and nothing about them standout. Jin Do Hyun was seriously obnoxious and unbearable. They delayed way too many threads until the last 2 episodes which resulted in rushing everything. You better off skip it.
The drama is just another one of those cheap makjangs. To sum it up: cheap thin story, baboonish brain-dead script, smaller cast, limited number of side stories and scuffed production. The first 4 episodes will give you a clear idea what type of shenanigans and decisions the drama will adapt. Can't recommend the drama!
The drama must have a big identity crises since it couldn't decide between being a family drama or makjang, constantly switching even within the same episode. Right from the beginning, EPISODE 1, when one of the family members took picture of Ji Na's necklace and, for absolutely no logical reason, put it on the internet, I could already smell the fuming hot garbage the writers are about to create. Guess what? I was 100% correct. This drama tips heavily on the baboonish side of the makjang scale.
Although Uhm Jung Hwa did a great job, but it's impossible for me to view her as an evil character. I didn't like how she suddenly became evil for no reason from episode 12. We were initially presented by a strong independent Yoo Ji Na (Uhm Jung Hwa) but 15-20 episodes later the writers made her turn to a bag of dirt and completely ruined any build up she had.
The drama had a strange pacing, it changes weirdly every handful of episodes with the biggest change came from switch between episodes 30 & 31 which created a big gap and disconnect in the story. Speaking of switching and change, I think the switch of the female lead ruined the drama. Jang Hee Jin is absolutely a great actress but she just didn't fit well in this case. They even went on to replace/recreate all of the flashback scenes.
Another form of change/switching came with the love interest which shamelessly switched three times. It was straight up disgusting watching Hae Dang being with one man while sobbing/begging/crying/caring/dreaming/lusting/bitching/loving/chasing/pitying/thirsting/craving/running around for another man. Despicable and uncomfortable to watch! On the other spectrum, Jung Hae Jin was absolutely the only "good" part about this drama and nothing else.
After being the nastiest humans ever to walk the earth, suddenly everyone became angelic and have the highest morale of any other human for the ending. Great writing! It feels like their budget was small, it was mostly filmed indoor between 2-3 family houses with very limited number of outdoor scenes. I feel sorry for this cast to be involved in this atrocious project. The drama that followed it after finishing serializing "Man in the Kitchen (2017)" was much better than this. Can't recommend this, barely 3/10 for the cast's sake.
It was totally fine up until episode 8. By ep9 both acting and writing got super awkward, events started not making things and are only happening to advance the plot, relationships became artificial and dull, and there was a noticeable overall drop in quality. One thing that really bothered me is how everyone was heavily reliant on the key chain. This plot element was handled poorly from all parties involved. Also, police force was comically bad how they handled the case. No follow up on Se Ra and Joon Ha they were no where to be seen after their last abrupt conversation, I guess the writer forgot.
Although it was expected to have loud flashy action but it was overdone on the expense of middling dialogue and pace. Episodes 11 to 16 were a big filler where nothing interesting happen, it only picked itself up from episode 17. The finale fight/battle in the last episode was the weakest in the drama, it felt quick, light and forced tragedy unlike the previous battles which had a much better build up and impact. The excessive number of casualties is another area the drama overdone, most of the familiar faces were left until the last episode to be given a "whatever" death to make the climax artificially big, I would much prefer if they were to die one by one throughout the drama to be given a more meaningful death.
I never liked romance in war, not a fan of watching two lovers in war playing on different sides. These stories always lack depth and eventually boil down to "what's going to win love or duty?". If we were to completely ignore the romance then the drama is good despite having major shortcomings. On the other hand, the songs in the soundtrack were bangers.
The greed was nutty she wanted both men to herself. The drama seriously didn't need to include a love square. It was fine up until episode 13 then it became cartoonish with the melo. The drama had a good balance between the sisters, you don't fully hate/like one or the other. I would have liked if the ending was a bit better.
Way too much sexism and misogyny for a drama that was made in 2014, as if it was made mid 2000's or just the writer is still stuck in that period. I liked the characters but disliked the story as a whole, especially Ji Hyun's story, the direction it took and how her story ended. The three female leads were meant to be best friends for 20+ years, yet they were nasty to each other occasionally. Maybe call them "close" friend. Things wrapped up way too fast at the end as if there was a 5 episodes gap. Ahn Do Young ended up being treated like shit by the writers, he got only one short scene for the last episode.
Erratic, offbeat and amateur production but the silly vibes make up for what it lacks and present a decent package. The cast performance is questionable, Ye Ji Won did a great job but you can't say the same about Lee Min Ki & Lee Eun Sung performance.
It was a nice revenge drama but the sheer amount of plot holes left a lot to be desired. However, what kind of ending even is that! It's completely out of the ML character as if he "changed" because it's the ending, it needed some gradual build up. The man went through the wringer and the writer decided to end it like that. It feels like they were forced to be over dramatic for the ratings. Anyway, it's whatever.
Below average drama. Nothing stands out and it doesn't do anything good. Weak performance from the four leads, weak climax and everything ends abruptly for the last episode without putting much thoughts in anything. Especially the antagonist, nothing happen to him not even a slap on the wrist.
Poor directing that reflected on the cast middling performance, especially Joo Ji Hoon who was barely acting maybe because this was his second project. The thriller aspect was weak and the mystery didn't exist, the "baddies" were known too early, like in the first few episodes. Don't even get me started on the supernatural element, total flop. Some may watch it for Shin Min Ah but this is her weakest project imo.
The ending was extremely over dramatic that it straight up made it bad. It's okay to have the same "outcome" but what led to it "the final 2 scenes" needed a re-write as it is completely nonsensical in its current state.
I don't know why but for some reason I had high expectation, it turned out to be a complete flop. One of the worst chemistry for a lead couple ever. They might as well replace the male lead with a random support character and it wouldn't matter. Most of the relationship is one sided, FL who is doing most of the heavy lifting and constantly being abused meanwhile ML barely there or reacting, all talk no action, it's truly exhausting to follow their relationship, especially with the unjustified hatred from the in-laws. It turned to a pure blind hatred.
The drama had no clear direction, around mid way through they were making shit up as they go. Random plots and character appearing and disappearing. Soo Bin completely disappeared in the last 1/3 despite being a main character, they didn't even bother writing anything for her. Even though she had a heavy involvement/impact on the story early on. Yu Ri's father inclusion was the worst part about the drama. For the second half there was no story going on other than the leads' story, all side stories were dead by then.
I don't recommend this drama. Because of the amount of shit they were making up, they writers completely trapped themselves in a corner and the only option to get out is to introduce terminal illness to force some emotional investments from the viewers for the climax. Evidently, the ending turned out to be bad with how they decided to execute it.
