It's not the age gap but the fact that she is a minor and he is an adult.
Thank you for the clarification. I think it might help to see it from a more relative POV. Think about yourself at the age of 17 versus who you were at the age of 21. Could you really say that mentally, you were in the same space at both those ages? The experiences, your understanding of the world, and even developmentally--all of those things change. When you add that Yijin is an adult in this case, it can make some people uncomfortable.
Actually, I think people have felt uncomfortable about their relationship since the beginning of the show. I think what you mentioned here is exactly the point: "Their actions are still the same and can we read them as falling in love quite easily." People felt uncomfortable because of her being a minor and him an adult, and the way things were shot and written created that ambiguous atmosphere where you could read their scenes as platonic or romantic. However, when people would say they felt uncomfortable about that kind of romantic atmosphere, others would say it's platonic because the synopsis says they don't fall in love until 21 and 25. So, what is it supposed to be? Are viewers supposed to only read Yijin's feeling as platonic, and it's just viewers who are pushing a romantic light on actions that shouldn't be? Or is it supposed to be romantic because it does seem a lot of viewers are shipping them already and do find their moments together romantic. I think the fact that the writer and director make it so ambiguous at times is what is causing this disagreement between viewers.
This is just what I've gathered from reading people's responses.
Hm, it's been interesting to read people's thoughts on the Yurim-Heedo situation. I kind of feel they're both in the same position--lacking the support they need, which is why they both found comfort in the chats they had online with each other.
People's high expectations for Yurim to produce results is a huge burden for her to carry while Heedo's burden is that no one expects anything from her so she has to continuously prove herself. Both situations are bad and add so much pressure to them that they become really hot-headed when around the other because there's so much pent-up frustration. They each see in the other what they don't have but want.
Looks like we can expect iconic drama lines, chamchamcham, the shouting in silence game, singing, and tears. The special will air at 11:10 PM KST on January 31st!
Seyoung's appearance on Late Night Ghost Talk is today as well for those of you interested.

Hope you can focus on finding a new hobby for yourself instead of casting judgment on other people's enjoyment of a harmless show.
You guys! Director Jung Ji In is going to appear. Lee Deokhwa's fishing promise, Seyoung and Junho hand comparisons, and more will also happen.
Seyoung might have won at a chamchamcham game against Junho judging by the pic.
