Ep 15 preview, what the..... who's the new character now???.... At this point, this series is like an onion, layers of characters, background story, and schemes.... and of course the unchecked tears.
Right, episode 7 was the calm before the storm. Though a lot did happen before the calm too. Can't imagine the…
You can feel the gear of this drama is about to be cranked up. I feel those beginning episodes were tame and just setting the tone. Now the political games are starting to show itself and you're having to figure out where everyone and everything stands. I have a few ideas but have no clue if that's how the story will play out.
So that's why XHA keeps his eyes closed when he has to deal with the fake Zhang Mo..... πππ
The little details that XHA exhibits gives him the softness that otherwise would make this character one dimensional with his all out hate of the people he has to deal with. And this is how you fall for a character... to give them a relatable human touch.
Frr thatβs actually something that i look when i watch this kind of drama βπ»π if not it will be overwhelmed…
It's not enjoyable when you can't remember a character and their MO while trying to follow where the plot is going. You miss out on the scenes and the impact of the moment when you're having to remember who is who.
The actor, Zhou Qi, playing the deposed empeor posted the picture of the scene of him with his hand up after XHA saying thank you, and the caption 'my smugness wasn't too obvious, was it?' and CY responded, 'you should sleep a little longer' (referring to him getting hit with that shovel). π€£π€£
With so many characters at play, I'm glad they didn't dump them all at once on us. They're introducing them as needed and also getting rid of them as needed, so paying attention to the ongoing plot isn't too difficult.
Around episode 6 and especially 7 is when the emotional entanglements for the characters set in. Finally seeing the character's background story and their wishes and everyday mundane life, and then knowing what might come ahead, is what gets you invested in the storyline. The beginning episodes sets up XHA's revenge tactics, but these past episodes is what hooks you. It doesn't help that the OSTs and their lyrics also hits at the emotions of this drama. I foresee tons of tears....
Quadruple 'yays' if they just release all episodes. π
He must of been thinking 'everyone here is π€ͺ, I LOVE IT!'
And then it wasn't funny anymore..... π§

Can I see a therapist now? π€
I can see why Netflix picked up this series while it's live broadcasting. π
And that Wang Pu is a PSYCHO!!
