though people may say there were not enough kiss scenes, it was one of the most intimate dramas i’ve watched - with so much affection for each other— you don’t have to have physical contact to see the love between them… i love that this drama touches on different aspects of life.. love, loss, and moving on… one of my fav dramas this year.

Regarding the edict and the misunderstanding with Ye Li’s mother, MXY feels betrayed, MXY leaves for work leaving unresolved issues and hurtful words. Prince quickly realizes he had been in the wrong, and Ye Li is regretful she did not say what she should have. They take time to have a deep conversation and understand each other. They both realize that they had a rough time and their bonds grow deeper than ever
Few days later, The steward in the shop talks to the senior privately with a concern, about Lishan Academy. Ye Li mentions that a person from Lishan Academy is writing to her, but he had been dead before he had left the mountain. The Senior warns him not to point this out to Ye Li. That her memory is wrong. Then who is writing to her? Steward, feeling that the senior knows something, insists to know the truth. The Senior finally admits the truth. That when he looked in, there was no one on Lishan mountain. Ye Li, entering the shop and searching for the steward, overhears this.
Ye Li, shocked, demands them what they are talking about, and they are shocked to know she had overheard. The seniors reassure her that they must be mistaken. Ye Li agrees. She had been getting letters from them for the past few months, so he must be wrong. On her way back, she is uneasy. She feels that the senior is hiding something from her. After returning home, she quickly leaves for the mountain, leaving a letter for MXY who had left the city for work.
The senior, feeling uneasy, goes to find her but is notified she has left the mansion. The senior tries to stop her at the entrance of the mountain, but the senior is blocked by the guarding soldiers. Ye Li enters the Lishan Academy while the senior goes to find prince ding.
MXY hears about this on the return night and the truth of the mountain from the senior. He quickly goes up following her in worry. But he is blocked as he needs a pass.
When she arrives, everyone is there. Master Zhu, Qing Shaung, all the students. With lots of food prepared for her return. She is relieved. Senior must have been mistaken. Everyone asks about her journey and insists her to stay for a few days. She agrees. She sends a letter to MXY. That everyone was okay. That she is sorry she left in a hurry, but she had to check if everyone was okay. She will stay for a while and go down.
MXY, gets the pass from the Empress as well as Ye Li’s letter from the mountain. He writes a response that he will be there to visit. Then he remembers that a certain stamp must be placed in order for it to pass to Lishan Mountain that Ye Li had been using. When he searches for it, he reads all the letters that were not sent. He quickens his pace and goes up the mountain. Upon arrival, he finds the place broken down and empty.
After calling out her name, he finds Ye Li in a room. He hugs her tightly. She believes that everyone is still here and they just went away to get rice.
The palace guard points out that there is no one here, and it has not been lived in for several years, and she faints in shock.
Next day, Ye Li forgets yesterday’s events and introduces MXY to everyone. He follows her lead and greets her seniors, invisible to his eye.
It would have been nice to see more of scenes how she spent her days at lishan after she came back - did she reunite with everyone, did she talk with master Zhu and Qing shuang? Then the reveal telling her no one is living here would have been more climatic

Totally agree - They just needed him to find the letters to move the story plot - But to be honest Prince’s reaction to take the letters to the senior in such an emotional way didn’t make sense to me. I think I would have asked the maids first if they ever saw her or helped her send letters, then the worker at her shop, then maybe encounter the senior. - and not such a dramatic way so immediately… but I guess then that would have taken so much time but this progression made me scratch my head tbh

Yes I agree. It didn’t really make sense that Prince Ding would immediately write a divorce letter, while Ye Li just watching him. Even if she wanted to pay a debt — he knows that they had shared love. if it was him as I understand him he would be angry but still try to talk it out.. They should have had a convo, and both recognize that ( and make the audience also recognize that) they need time away from each other

Although she does love him, I think Ye Li couldn’t deny that a part of her, in some moments, the debt she had to pay back for prince ding’s family weighed more than her love - the weight of the responsibility left by her mother and her family must have been crushing. And she could not deny that was one of the big reasons she had to help Prince Ding. 2. Prince Ding is also a very fragile person when it comes to relationships - remember how it took so long for him to open up to her? He pushed her out before she could hurt him.
