the one thing i think this drama really failed at was the crown prince's storyline. like the ml is literally raped into having a child and it's just glossed over? and then there's not even a pretense of fatherly affection there at all? like i get the crown prince is the product of rape, but he's still the ml's child. and neither ml, nor our slightly wiser fl, think he should spend some time with his kid? idk i just think the whole storyline and character of the crown prince could've been handled better

tbh something about prince duan is so unsettling. like he's definitely one of the creepiest cdrama villians i've seen in a while

rewatching this and tbh i'm still hung up on jin zhao stealing jiang mu's dog and making her think he ran away because she didn't get him neutered fast enough. wtf!!!

tbh, i think what really makes this drama stand out is thee's character. i mean, we've all seen the domineering ceo and rich man/poor person trope played out dozens of time in dramas. except thee is not the composed billionaire we're used to: he's eccentric and absurd in a way that is both entertaining and refreshing

the same actor who plays di lanjue, a sweet, harmless prince in this series, plays a psychotic playboy emperor in the drama fated hearts. and tbh, he does a great job in both roles, especially in fated hearts where the character he's portraying is a lot more complex

for me, the similarity mainly lies in the way both nam and rin's ex (i can't remember how her name is spelled lol) abandon them, and then come crawling back and pretending to be weak when pat and rin are finally doing well with new partners. but you're right that the situations are different and there was definitely a deeper, stronger bond with rin and her ex. also i've watched more episodes since my original comment and agree nam is way more villainous. i thought it would be more subtle lol

i'm only a couple episodes in but nam reminds me of rin's ex in denied love. except i like this series a lot more so far! plus pat is a much better character than rin lol

tbh i thought their breakup would be more dragged out and tedious to get through. like i thought it would be jiang mu continually chasing after jin zhao and him pretending not to love her anymore all the way until the last or second to last episode. fortunately my prediction was wrong lol
