This show had me in such a choke-hold and since I am a masochist, I stopped bingeing for endless hours and began surviving on only two episodes a night just to drag it on. I didn't want it to end. I fell in absolute love with the Xu family (the child actress had my entire heart she was so cute), the camaraderie between the three guardians was adorable (the bed pile up, funny and soooo cute), everything about this show was phenomenal.
I couldn't stand the princess at the beginning but as time went on her character grew on me. That scene after you know who is found broke me, and the ensuing one where she goes to the emperor was heart wrenching! Superb acting, she won me over. All the actors were great in their roles to be honest. I was so engrossed; you forget they are playing a part and everyone became their character. For me that plays a huge part in how much I love what I am watching. Fluid, natural acting that just sucks a viewer in, no matter the pace of the story or the genre, is a win for me.
I had a few niggles (e.g. the editing and storytelling in the a few of the last episodes was choppy and disjointed) but I am still giving it a 10/10 for the pure, unadulterated fun I had while watching. The comedy was gold! Dylan Wang, you have a new fan. I swear I have attempted to watch LBAFAD several times but the FL's voice takes me out EVERY TIME. It's been a struggle lol but for him, I might have to bite the proverbial bullet because he was fantastic in this show and I want to see more of his acting.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS SHOW! Well done to the entire cast and crew. Thank you for getting me out of my Cdrama slump.
Watch ep16, what's that you call sleep, work or study or even worse... chores!? What struggle? Procrastination…
TWO WEEKS LATE! Life came up. π
NOOOOOOOO!!!! Not my medal! I fought hard to win this badge of honor. I ignored calls, emails, texts and everything. You will have to snatch it out of my grubby, salt sprinkled, potato chip crumbles covered hands my friend! ππ
Episode 15: **stuttering** But I was just, just laughing my ass off... WTF?!
The whiplash, what in the fuck just happened, come out of left field, "unplanned pregnancy" shite from Asian dramas is unparalleled. May the qi be with me 'cause my human drama watching spirit cannot deal right now. I shared my issue with insomnia in my earlier comment; well, the end of Episode 15 just "Ambiened" me. T.K.O'd. I. Cannot. Even.
Of course the show is not over BUT STILLLLLLL why you gotta do me like this?!?! π₯πͺ
Me is confused now. Do I just go to sleep and see how it pans out in Episode 16 later in the day or do I sacrifice another 45 minutes? Only drama addicts would understand this existential crisis. The struggle. π
Thiiiiiis shit. π«I turned it on for some lightweight watching to put my brain to sleep/early in the a.m before trying to wind down, "just 'cause". NINE frigging hours later...π
How is this so HILARIOUS?!!? I didn't realize how long its been and how much I needed some gut busting laughs. Dyyying. There goes my sleep. Oh wait. I suffer from insomnia. There IS no sleep. ππ I am not sure if they can maintain this pace but goddammit I LOVE THIS SHOW and every character (the little sister is THE CUTEST) except maybe the Princess. I am super glad it is not that romance focused. She annoys me. *** rolling my eyes all the way back to 1985*** "What? It was a good year. "
It is 5 a.m and my fingers are begging me to stop typing this comment and press play. LAWD HELP ME! ha ha
Finally buckled down and started this show after hearing so much about it. Not as heart-wrenching as described but I like it so far. Seo In Guk plays brooding "bad boy" immaculately. His eyes are so expressive. Everything else just kinda feels a bit underwhelming? Maybe it's my mood. Hmmm
Oh my God Zhen Zhen and the show's creators had my heart in my mouth in Episode 8. She is a spitfire and I love her character. No dainty wall flower here folks. What a thrill this show has been so far, from screenplay, to pacing , the acting...I am having a ball. Thank you to everyone involved in this because I have been hard pressed finding a crime show that I was immersed in. Now praying it ends on a high note. Iykyk...
The way they execute the last 2 episodes was my main issue as well. Why did they introduce random plots that doesn't…
Yes, that display of weakness was so out of character for him and then they show him off in the jungle somewhere playing The Phantom. Ludicrous. I was really let down.
I rarely watch these short Chinese dramas or currently airing shows but I think it's about to be a "thing" with me. It's early in the game (I am on Episode 9) but MY GOD! This is akin to a long night at the club and you're walking out all tipsy and hungry as fuck and all you want is some salty, greasy, questionable street food. You know you should go home and maybe just make a quick bowl of ramen before passing out, but what sense of adventure would THAT bring?
So off you stumble to the nearest food truck, late night bodega or whatever and ask for the greasiest pizza, beef kebab, rice piled high with "beef" and "fresh"steamed/fried vegetables. Who knows how long they've been sitting there? Who cares? You and your drunken friends find a place to sit, sometimes even a so so clean-ish spot on the sidewalk will do and you DIG INNN and the shit tastes like the best gourmet meal ever! You wolf that crap down KNOWING you're probably spending the next day on the loo but to hell with it cause this food binge is GOOD! For now...
Yeah. So... this is absolute bingeable, delicious, ridiculous, yummy grub. I am eating it up!!!
K dramas recently remind me of my wild youth. Fun times on repeat for a while then the eventual hangovers come and CRASH! Down I go. This was sooo much fun; missteps, cliches and all, those don't bother me. What I HATE HATE HATE are poor finales and I am afraid this is becoming a habit with show creators. Nobody seems to know how to end a story in a satisfactory manner. A great ride followed by a crash into a wall that appeared out of thin air. And I am NOT referring to that "controversial" ten second bit, my concern is the haphazard way they wrapped it up. The love story deserved better.
Anyhoo, loved this couple and gave them a 9/10 for their chemistry despite the flaws in the execution/plot.
Hmmm waffling between a 7.5 and an 8. It was entertaining enough (if one can describe war movies as such) but I kept putting it on pause for a couple of days before finishing it. Acting was good, meat and bones were there but I feel like the heart and soul were missing. Still worth a watch.
Yoo Hae Jin. I love you. Whether he is making me laugh or cry, he is brilliant at his craft.
Close to perfection for me and the mood I was in. Stunning production, costume design, sublime acting, gorgeous camera work and cinematography. The attention to detail was mind blowing, I was transported to that time and enthralled throughout the entire thing. Deserving of all the accolades it has won. Give me the rest. NOWWWW!!!
That shattered my heart in many dark, sweet, emotional, profound, beautiful ways -like they usually do- just to quietly piece it back together and make me wish they could pump out more stories at the Thai rate. But then would the quality remain? I dare say, yes, I think it would. The Japanese RARELY miss. This was absolutely superb. JBL does it again, they produce shows and we stay winning.
