Am I the only one left who still thinks HJP is endgame? I actually get more and more confident about it after…
Awww.. lot of people hope for that somewhere within but Nam Joo Hyuk is just way more popular an actor world over for any of us to reasonably believe that it will happen :). Also, being the lead of the show.
Now if the show was different from traditional kdramas, there was a possibility. But this one is a very typical kdrama, with tropes and cliches. So I don't expect much.
It probably has to do with our personal experiences, likes/dislikes etc. and who we are that makes us empathize…
Haha.. I can say the same thing about NDS but imagine if you are a 16 year old watching. More than likely your life experience hasn’t grown enough to understand what is realistic or not or what is mature or not. Or you are a dork genius yourself, you might relate to NDS more :).
Anyway, that is what I tell myself to understand seemingly baffling things.
EP 11- Still not getting the hype for Jipyeong. Not at all.
It probably has to do with our personal experiences, likes/dislikes etc. and who we are that makes us empathize with certain characters more. We all have different things that move us.
Why should we have to turn off our brains to watch a drama lmao its 2020 not 2008
This is not always true. Not everyone watches media or read books to get away from reality. One uses stories many times to learn about other people, places, lives, thought processes, etc. For this, there needs to be honesty and integrity in the narrative. It should also be consistent with the characters for it make sense.
Actually, in terms of anti-hero, HJP would fit this description better don't you think?HJP does the right things,…
That is an interesting thought.
So anti-hero by definition is ‘ An antihero (sometimes spelled as anti-hero)[1] or antiheroine is a main character in a story who lacks conventional heroic qualities and attributes such as idealism, courage, and morality.[1][2][3][4][5] Although antiheroes may sometimes perform actions that are morally correct, it is not always for the right reasons, often acting primarily out of self-interest or in ways that defy conventional ethical codes. ‘
It is not how the other characters in the show see him/her but how we see him/her.
For eg:, Hannibal, Dexter, the guy from House of Cards.
I am beginning to think that DoSan is actually an anti-hero .
It almost seems like he has serious mental health issues (anxiety disorder, or personality disorder or whatever) that was left untreated. A person who suffers from a hyperactive, super smart, too sensitive and emotional brain and needs help from experts.
Also, seeing how he is still petty after the time skip, apparently he is incapable of self-reflectiom and growth. He would need actual help.
Would make sense with how his character is right now and bring back some integrity to the show.
i dont get why dalmi dropped out of college to make money for a food truck... if she dropped out what happened…
Both main leads have so many issues. I was so irritated with DalMi's characters in the first few episodes. Most people gave me flak for it. She had all these dreams but she wasn't doing anything to get to them. Just had grand, idealistic ideals that wasn't rooted in any reality. Then because two men came along who like her, suddenly -- her life turned around. I absolutely hate women characters written like that.
Yes, she is hardworking and street smart but her accomplishments should come primarily from her actions. That would make it even more endearing.
I am not saying luck or connections don't make a difference in our lives, they do. But you have to be prepared to take advantage of that. And while DalMi had a tough life, life is unfair. HJP took the lemons he got and made it into lemonade.
They didn't give a good explanation to many things in this drama -- if grandma sold her store, then why did she leave college? That is SUCH a dumb move. Going to college, working hard, and making money would have been the best way to help grandma in the long run.
Unpopular long post about HJP, and I apologize to my fellow HJP fans, I have not jumped ship :) Just an observation…
I don't think this is surprising or even new. HJP's character is written as someone who is afraid of getting hurt. He is scared of sharing or being vulnerable. His defense mechanism is to suppress his emotions and have this angry front.
That is the character growth HJP needs. He needs to be able to let people in and let go of his abadonmont issues.
It's something random: I know Apple is a hype, but why the drama focus more in honor Steve Jobs since NDS is more…
For NDS -- Steve Wozniak perhaps? I heard him speak at an event last summer. Genius but there is reason why Steve Jobs was CEO and Woz was the tech brain :)
And I always found it funny that DalMi kept saying that she wants to be the next Steve Jobs.
Flower of Evil

The thoughts based off of his character so far. He could very well grow, learn and change. That’s the hope.
Anyway, that is what I tell myself to understand seemingly baffling things.

Only an hour left.

Regardless, most of them have legit issues :)

The writers built him up, made him fall in love with DalMi and then started treating him like an afterthought. That is why people are mad.
It doesn’t help that the writers pitted NDS against him.
They could have removed the love triangle altogether and treated these two as friends. And built a great bromance. Would have made a better show.
