SLS happened for me in The Love Equations with Cai Yasi (even though I really liked the ML too since he was a really nice guy). Ironically, Cai Yasi would have been a terrible match for the FL so it wasn't that he was better for her, it's just that he was more my own type. I like nerdy, geeky, warm guys and that was Cai Yasi. So while I would have picked him, I know why the FL didn't. The ML was the better choice for her.
And then again in Black Cinderella with Shimamura Sora. I think I just don't like that the ML is such a prince. Shimamura Sora is so much more down-to-earth and honest than the ML. It's not that the ML isn't nice, but he's also a pushover. And that gets old. Of course, there are only 3 episodes subbed so far so that could change.
Overall I usually don't suffer from SLS. So it's surprising to me when it happens for me at all.
Not sure why this seems to be everyone's first reason to try Jdramas. Weird since there are so many amazing Jdramas out there and have been for decades.
I was the complete opposite. I didn't skip any scenes because I loved their friends. They were just so cute! But…
Oh, I gotcha! Yeah, I didn't care for Tang Xu either. I felt bad for him, but he was also not needed as a character. Sort of like Su Man Lin. There to satisfy the trope of the "love rivals" and that's all.
It was a really good drama. I liked how the guy was very smart and couldnt tricked. I felt like they rushed the…
I was the complete opposite. I didn't skip any scenes because I loved their friends. They were just so cute! But I do agree that the ending felt rushed. That was probably the only thing they needed to work on harder. Oh well, still such a great drama!
Dropped at ep 24. After they got together the sweet scenes were unbearably cringy and some cliche plots started…
I don't know, I thought "Miss Crow with Mr. Lizard" was supremely refreshing because while it dabbled in some tropes, it didn't go overboard. Not like "Sunshine of My Life" which I pretty much hated because it was so overwhelmingly unpleasant. The tropes in SofML were so much worse than in "Miss Crow with Mr. Lizard" so I guess to each his own. For me, "Miss Crow with Mr. Lizard" is the Cdrama against which I will measure all romantic Cdramas going forward. Because despite the tropes and the silliness and the somewhat rushed ending, it was still brilliant.
I loved this drama more than I can even say. The tropes weren't too crazy, the best friends were actually really good people instead of manipulative jerks, and Gu Chuan and Jiang Xiao Ning were adorable. Yes, it wrapped up conveniently, but anything other than his death would have been considered a convenient wrap-up. And there is no way in the world I would have been cheering for him to die. "Miss Crow with Mr. Lizard" is now my favorite Chinese drama and I can hardly wait to rewatch it.
Mmm, I'm watching it and it's ok but it takes a lot to make Ryusei seem romantically stiff and he seems very stiff here. That's also the vibe I'm getting from the FL. Maybe he's just better suited for age gaps in the other direction. The other dramas I've watched where his leading lady is older, they always have great chemistry. It's just not happening here like I was expecting. I'll finish it, but it's not a top favorite, although that could change in the last 3 episodes.
Oh my gosh, this sounds so cool! I can hardly wait! Love Taishi Nakagawa, such a fun actor and this sounds like a slightly different, more challenging role for him! I feel like he's a talented actor, though, so I'm pretty sure he'll be up to the challenge.
Oh, my heart. Only in dramaland can I love a male character this much and still want to drop-kick him. Gu Chuan, you and your stupid chivalry! You're causing so much pain right now, you idiot! Just let people support you! ARGH!
I love that she is like a female version of Kazuya Kamenashi! Watching her in Kono Koi Atatamemasu ka, that's one of the first things that came to mind. Such similar reactions to things, so cute!
My guess is the character and the actress are about the same age, which is why she was a little stymied to find out Rui was only 24. That would be a shock when you've assumed someone is older than you only to find out he's waaaaaaay younger. Maybe she's just 30, but 32 feels about right for her.
It's so strange, but in this movie, Ryusei reminds me so much of Tomohisa Yamashita from his Buzzer Beat years. Maybe it's the hair. Although I think it's more than that, they're emoting about the same. There was a real authenticity to Tomo's performance in Buzzer Beat, much like Ryusei here. It's kind of a bizarre deja vu, even though the characters are literally nothing alike.
And then again in Black Cinderella with Shimamura Sora. I think I just don't like that the ML is such a prince. Shimamura Sora is so much more down-to-earth and honest than the ML.
