So many lessons here. Like not getting drunk and sleeping with strangers. Yech.
Why am I supposed to like Hiroto again? It's not enough for me that he's played by Miura Haruma; I need more than that. As it is, there's not much likeable about him at all and I find myself urging Sakura to run away as far and as fast as she can. He's so skeevy.

On Coffee & Vanilla Jun 27, 2020
Don't listen to the haters. Coffee and Vanilla is meant to be seductive and sensual. It is NOT about an abusive relationship. How commenters are getting that idea, I don't know. They're acting like he's Christian Grey, which couldn't be further from the truth.

The episodes are 24 minutes long, so there isn't a lot of time for character growth or development. What there is time for is Sakurada Dori to be intensely seductive and delicious. If you want your heart to skip beats, several of them, and don't expect a hugely important plot, than you'll love Coffee and Vanilla, It's just a fun, guilty pleasure, which is all it was ever meant to be.

For those who care, there is no nudity, just a lot of sensual intimacy. It was tastefully filmed.

The movie is a continuation of the drama, so the drama first.
And you can actually skip the last two episodes if you want. They're sort of a recap of the season from a different character's perspective. I watched them but it was a bit repetitive. :)

I hope you enjoy it! The drama episodes are really short, just 22 minutes each, so that helps. But it sets up the real meat of the movie's plot very well. :)

why is this rated only 8.2? people are so tough on japanese dramas istg. if this was korean, it would be rated…
I've noticed that too! People are way hard on Japanese dramas and that seriously confuses me!

Was the costume designer some middle-aged, woman-hating man prude? Usually it's the screenwriter who compromises…
I love her clothes. They're refined, elegant and timeless.

Wow, lots of folks didn't like this but somehow kept watching? If I don't like a drama, I drop it and move on and nobody ever knows I didn't like it.

This one is actually pretty cute.

The female lead is naive in the ways of romance which is why she's so unsure. And she has even more reason to be unsure because her partner is so much younger. I get where she's coming from since I can only imagine the backlash and uncertainty if I started dating a guy 9 years younger than myself. Viewers need to cut her some slack for her insecurities. They're natural since she has no real experience.

As for the second male lead, I didn't like him. He's manipulating her insecurities, making them worse, to further his own hopes. Some manipulation in romance is cute and understandable, but he's trying to undermine and for that, he's kind of a jerk.

So far Tanokura-kun is sweet. His character could have been rounded out more, like scenes from his perspective rather than hers, but oh well. He seems genuine in his affection for Hanae. I'm sure he can see the obstacles in their path too, he's just choosing to not focus on them. There's something admirable in it.

New viewers, just give it a try. Yes, we have typical tropes going on, but that's to be expected. On the whole, it's a very sweet drama.

Title Second Love
I personally loved this drama. I watched it in a whole day and was completely addicted, of course there were areas…
Agreed. He's not a teenager so the age gap isn't cringy at all. That's like saying a woman in her early 60s and a man in his late 50s can't be together. Really?

I can hardly wait to watch this one. Kame was my first crush when I started loving J-dramas!

Very sweet movie. They tried their hardest to get as much of the manga in as possible and it mostly worked.
On Higashide Masahiro Jun 14, 2020
This is nothing compared with the amount of extra-martial affairs going on in classic Hollywood. I'm not condoning Erika and Masahiro's actions, but there should still be room for forgiveness. His wife may actually forgive him and they might be able to move forward and heal their family. He's not the first man in entertainment to cheat on his spouse and he certainly won't be the last. It's what he does now that matters the most, not what he did.
